Now that we've learned that there is neural net based on tree roots and fungi, I wonder if fungi that produce psychedelic compounds help facilitate the communication and awareness that we're learning is present between trees.

Also, we know that fungi transport nutrients directly from dead animals to trees- scientists have tracked salmon protein from bear leftovers to nearby trees. Some poisonous shrooms kill in minutes. This must be an attempt at predation. I'd love to know if nutrient poor ecologies have more poisonous fungi.
