I finally got to the episode with Micah Hanks. I really enjoyed it btw and found it really interesting. I have known about psychomanteums for a long time. I never have tried it, but I heard about them when I was a kid. The weird thing is that I learned about them on Oprah. I swear I am like one of the only people on earth who remember a whole Oprah episode about psychomantiums. I know it is kinda lame, but I have been afraid of mirrors in the dark since I saw that show. I have never had an experience or anything, but that was about the time the whole "bloody mary" thing was popular in middle school. Plus, at that point in my life, I was living in our old creepy haunted house and had been through some crazy house stuff.
Anyway, one of the stories on the show that I thought was kind of interesting involved a psychomanteum being set up somewhere and strangers were taking turns using it. This one lady said she went in and waited and waited and then eventually saw the image of this unfamiliar angelic figure standing by a cave in some mountains holding a baby. The lady had no idea why she was seeing this image because she didn't recognize anything from it. She had hoped to communicate or see some of her departed family members and finally gave up. She said when she left, she told someone what she saw and that someone else in the room overheard and said that they saw the exact same image. They started going over the details of what what eachother had seen and the other person said it was her baby who had recently died and that she believed it was an angel holding the baby.
Now, I'm not one of those people who believe in angels, but I still thought it was kind of an interesting story. Of course like I mentioned before, it was on Oprah, so there ya go. haha.
I also remember Oprah going into the psychomanteum and freaking out after about 2 minutes and bailing because she started to hear noises that sounded like voices. So she did what any talk show personality would do... she made one of the producers on the show go in and stay. haha. The producer said she thought she heard and saw some of her dead relatives.
Seriously! Does no one remember this?! I swear this episode wasn't a pizza and chocolate ice cream dream.
EDIT: Well I find a few references about episodes of Oprah about the psychomanteum, so now I know I'm not crazy... or I'm at least less crazy. I guess Raymond Moody was on there back in 93. Here is a link about one of his books about the subject.
