Costco now has food packages with 30 days worth of meals. This is supposed to keep for 30 years. Its about $130. Saw it at the Las Vegas Costco this week and wonder if they are getting a lot of requests for this stuff for 12-21-2012.

I have a walk in pantry once described by a visitor as a "supermarket in there" and i also have what we call the "bulk store" in the garage. well stocked shelves and a couple of 240 litre bins filled with rice/oats/lentils and other grains

Should any sort of natural disater strike we would be able to go a while without undue panic food wise.
But thats not the base reason for this, food prices will always go up.
Buying in bulk now locks in todays price, it saves money to do things this way

So the advantages to doing this is twofold, security and economy

I have no problem with a well stocked pantry. If anything people should have enough food at home for 30 to 60 days as natural disasters or economic ones can occur at any time. I just thought it was interesting that Costco offers this now.
