I have a point to bring up, simplistic it may be, as a verified & confirmed armchair observer (says so right on my avatar) whose "knowledge" on this case goes only as far as what he has read here, why would it be so hard to accept that this couldn't be some kind of US human manned secret flight perhaps based on captured tech?

The fact that this crafted roared off...as DS has pointed out...flies against any supposedly alien craft incident in familiar with. (Not so sure I'm on board with hot air balloons though)

Is there not a scenario where at this time and era perhaps this tech was at a point where forward motion was obtained using new tech but still needed good old fashioned rocket boosters to achieve a certain altitude before employing any futuristic tech ?
