Why is it that there is a stigma attached to the subject of the paranormal in some people’s minds? Why are people’s careers derailed, why are experiencers ridiculed? Since when did it become a crime to expand our understanding about the world around us? Since when did it become a violation of human conduct to try and understand the mysteries of life, and explore anomalies that defy explanation? Any belief system that is not based upon universal cosmic principles is a false belief system, and is not the truth. There exists within the human mind an infinite expanse of potential. We are all capable of reaching the highest plateaus of consciousness, and the lowest depths of human despair. I recently read a forum concerning gender; that the Paracast community is predominantly male. The issues we are exploring are important to us all. Many of the problems in the world are the result of a patriarchal system of governance. The ancient Egyptians had a matriarchal system. The feminine creative force: I’m not going into that in depth here, google, Carmen Boulter if you want more information. I think attitudes, and many interests have more to do with social conditioning than biology. Women can be just as intelligent, and just as fierce, if not more so, than men.

Members of the same species here on earth cannot get along together, and live in peace and harmony. How is it then that we can expect to engage and communicate with a more advanced non-human intelligence? It is imperative that we ascend to a higher state of consciousness; it is time for the realization of new paradigm. Humanity stands at the precipice; never before in recorded history has human civilization and technology had such an enormous impact on the natural environment. Human civilization is destroying the earth’s biosphere. Perhaps this is one part of the equation as it relates to the non-human intelligence that has been operating in the background. I don’t know. I am just a man, a man who is saddened by what he sees happening in the world; saddened by the wars, the hatred, violence and inequality. Just as we must separate the signal from the noise; we must separate light from darkness; separate love from hatred, aspire to reach our full potential as human beings. Each day when we awaken from sleep we experience the paranormal. I believe consciousness is the key to human destiny. The fact that the universe exists is paranormal!

Reflections from a member of the Paracast community:

The main problem, from my point of view, is that humans-no matter how advanced we think we are-are still hunter/gatherers by nature. And we humans have a basic desire to "believe" in something; sometimes so devoutly that they are exclusionary in their practices, thoughts and actions. No matter how you slice it, (pun intended) we're made of meat. We're jealous, vengeful, violent and greedy animals that desire a purpose. Add that to the fact that there are those humans out there with a master's talent for manipulating the emotional lives of those animals (us) to serve whatever goal they choose; be it nationalism, fundamentalism, or racism.

Is there any hope for a peaceful earth? Probably not.

Dont forget we share 98 percent of our DNA with chimps, and yet some of us eat them

increasing human populations that have a tradition of hunting primates or where a demand for bushmeat exists (Struhsaker 1999). Especially troubling is the problem of orphaned chimpanzees. Poachers are only interested in adults for their meat, but killing an adult female with dependent offspring ensures that those infants or juveniles will either be sold into the pet trade or die because they lack the support of their mother so integral to chimpanzee development.

I'm afraid you are correct. I don't see peace on the horizon. We are evolving technologically, but it appears as though we are devolving socially.

Nature is indifferent to the plight of man. There is a limit to how far science can probe into the underlying nature of reality. Some of the fundamental questions I have cannot be resolved by science. For now, let’s set aside all of the human imperfections and frailties; the foremost question in my mind is the ultimate potential of human consciousness. Is human consciousness confined to the physical world, or is there a non-physical aspect of consciousness? How far and where can the mind take us? Mankind, as a species, just has to mature and grow up. As far as I'm concerned, we're still toddlers, maybe even infants.

It's easy to be pessimistic, but I'm an idealist. Humanity has so much potential, for good and bad. I think one day after many failures we'll reach some point where we don't fuck each other over all the time, and greed has been dealt with.

On a cosmic time scale we are a young species. Humanity does have great potential. We need to try and be optimistic. I'm tired of hearing nothing but gloom and doom. Some web sites have turned it into an industry, selling fear.

Unfortunately it is not something that lends itself to the scientific method. I have had an experience 3 times in my life that leads me to believe that the mind can in fact enter into a non-physical dimension. Maybe I will write about my experience some day.
