Seriously though, it said I had one new rep point, I clicked it, it brought me to my subscribed threads page, so I clicked the first thread. I didn't see anything about my rep and was wondering if someone could clear up this whole rep thing for me (and for the wave of other noobs).

I think you get a rep point when someone thanks you for one of your posts. I think it was me, actually... I thanked you when you made that comment about "We didn't land on Roswell, Roswell landed on us" - I was having a stressful day and that made me laugh out loud.
 
Ah, I'm not sure though, I've been thanked a few times and never seen that before. Either way, glad you got a kick out of it.:D
 
Your reputation 'color' is shown right under your 'Thanked blabla Times in blabla Posts'. (look to the right of your username of each post you do).
It is a tiny colored square. (Green for positive, Red for negative and grey for Neutral. See below link for FAQ's about one's Reputation.
