Barking but true: The touching bond between a Rottweiler and a wolf cub | Mail Online

That's lovely. Despite the bad press, I've always found Rotties to be big, soppy babies, in the right hands. Perhaps the wolf cub is helping the dog to get in touch with his ancestry.

Good story. I'd like to think that we can learn lessons from observing the behaviors of our fellow species.

I think dogs mirror the behaviour and traits of their owners. Angry assholes with problems might be drawn to a big intimidating looking dog for so than a tiny little 'runs-on-batteries' looking thing:D

So yeah, I think youre probably right Siani.

PS. Am I the only one who thinks that Wolf cub is just the awesomest looking animal ever!? What a mad cute looking little K9! I want one!!

Those wolfs... they just have a bad rep I tell ya:D

Rotties are definatly big sucks. I've had many friends that have owned them and they were all the absolutly sweet. And utterly terrifying when they feel their house or owners are in danger.

One of my friends rotties would not let the owner stand in front of the dog when someone knocked on the door, the dog had to be the first line of defense. It was pretty funny b/c the dog wouldn't charge the person or anything like that. Just stand there and not let the person in until it got to smell them. Those were the rules. Let Samson say hello and then come in.

That's exactly what Moses does (above left), but unfortunately, everyone just laughs at him. You don't want to get between him and the dishwasher, though. It's HIS dishwasher, period.

my girlfriends son has a rot/pit cross. he is the most gentle dog i have ever met. he hates cats and when he is out in the country on a run to get exercise he will chase down and kill any wild cat he finds. however he will protect my blind cat as if she were his mate or owner... very strange... he loves being around her.

here is bowser and his buddy, sugar the blind cat. she was born blind so she doesnt know what she is missing. no need to feel sorry for her.
btw- the cat is our household bug and mouse catcher. she has also been known to catch birds when she is outside. dont worry, we have thousands of blackbirds nesting in the trees by our house. i dont mind losing a few.

My Great-Grandpa had a pet coyote that he found as a pup and it was raised by a pair of beagles. It was not very sociable with humans, but it would eat scraps of meat from my hand.

Bad owners make for bad dogs. My Rottie is like a big baby. In fact, he still thinks he's a puppy.

Absolutely. I've only ever met one bad Rottie - he was aggressive and out of control, and one look at his drink-addled, aggressive, female owner told me everything I needed to know. Makes me mad to see people getting dogs they don't know how to handle. The only injury I ever received from a Rottie, was when a 60kg fellow named Buster decided to sit on me. My poor athritic bones took days to recover.

I hear ya. I opened the door on my classic 71 Valiant Pacer and my Rottie climbed into the passenger seat. I couldn't budge him...so we BOTH went for a car ride.

Wow...what an adorable story..and wolf and beauty of a Rott!

Rott's are one of my favorite breeds.

It also makes me miss MY gorgeous Rott/German Shephard mix! We had to give her up (along with our other Rott/Black Lab mix) when we moved. Poo. :frown: :(

At least we still have our kitty's tho.
