Saucer Smear is Jim Moseley. He's been called UFOlogy's "court jester", and that's not a bad handle. Jim keeps reminding us of all the field's mistakes, miscreants and misfires, both past and present. Having him around keeps things a little more honest and a whole lot more fun.
