Say Hello to Lucy

I'd like to introduce you guys to Lucy who reemerged back into my life recently after an absence of two to three years. She was at my front door at 06:15 this morning and it was rather cute as when I opened the door...I heard her scratching... she was staring at me with her front paws together as if supplication.

She's pretty much strictly almonds and We usually hook up at about 7:30-8:00 at she'll take two from my hand and commence to hiding them. She has about a 1 1/2 block radius (I've followed her) which I don't know if that is unusual but there are a couple of other squirrels I also feed that are nowhere as tame as her that go no further than a few yards. This morning she just started chomping right down and so was probably hungry hence the earlier than usually breakfast together.

Usually we sup together on the patio...you can see the white lawn chair...I tend to sit where the wall drops and lean back a bit and she will sometimes approach me via the wall and I will feel her little paws on my shoulders to get my attention if I am not aware of her presence. There is one shot I've yet to get and after a round of grab and hide she will lay herself out prone like a miniature beat skin rug on the wall which leaves her in a very vulnerable position so we seem to have some trust...she once nipped at me but I really think she mistook my pinkie for an almond...but then again she is pretty agile if I tried anything sneaky I think she'd avoid capture quite easily.

I wish they would hurry up and find a way to communicate with animals, I wonder what your squirrel was doing for three years? wouldn't it be great if you could ask it!

I think any creature that dreams must have a sort of language.

I think it would be advisable to establish communication with animals on our own planet before we go looking for creatures off planet, because misunderstandings and lack of communication could be extremely dangerous. What I am trying to say is that if you can't talk to a relatively intelligent creature like a pig what chance have you got with a more intelligent one, unless they wanted to talk to you?
