Watcher of the Skies
It looks like they started reruns tonight building up to the season opener on June 6th. I have always wondered about the validity of the show and of TAPS. Anyone have any information or opinions on this? Thanks.

TAPs is legit. That's why the show is so boring.

we watched it religiously, but what always annoyed us is all the footage of them arguing all the time! i think they're a real investigation group, tho

I confess I have followed the show since Day 1.

I have found it very eye-opening.

Some of the phenomena displayed on the show via video, etc. is simply either a "real" unknown force or an out-and-out hoax.

I suspect the show represents a mixture.

Grant and Jason (the lead investigators) seem like square dudes, on TV at least, and I don't think they would deliberately "pwn" viewers. But I think they have been victims of pranks and hoaxers. In fact, one show dealt with some amazing footage that turned out to be hoaxed by an unknown party. (The "Queen Mary" investigation.) They discovered the hoax on that episode, but you have to ask: what have they missed?

Was the Queen Mary episode the one where they got video of something seeming to walk toward the camera, then away abruptly?

I haven't watched many episodes of Ghost hunters. The ones I've seen were extremely boring to me. What I know of the TAPS team is good though. They're in touch with a ghost group here in my area that I have been loosely affiliated with.

No, the episode I'm referring to involved an incident in which an unattended camera appeared to record a bed unmake itself. (This was on the Queen Mary.)

A sharp-eared team member, though, heard the camera beeping when it was being paused/unpaused. (An audio recorder was in the room, independent of the camera.) The hoaxer was stopping the camera, moving the covers, starting the camera, etc..

Although the stateroom door was locked, it was determined that access to the room could be obtained via a maintenance closet.

Of course, perhaps, it was a ghost pausing/unpausing the camera. ;-)

Was it in Florida? (I can't recall the name of the location.)

In this episode, the camera seems to "catch" a shadowy figure peering over a railing at the top [inside] of a lighthouse. This repeats itself a few times, and I got the feeling the shadow's motion was sort've "panicky".

We are led to believe there is only one way to the top of the lighthouse, and a search found nothing.

Optical/camera issues can't be totally ruled out, but it sure does make you think.

right! that's the one...and I thought it was either St. Aug, or Ponce Inlet, b/c wherever it was, we'd just been there! those were great shots, too

Interesting.

I saw one episode where one of the TAPs members had the covers over his feet lift up. This was caught on tape. Whoever set up the camera didn't get his whole body in the frame though. In the end, it couldn't be ruled out that this was a ghost moving the blankets or not.

I'll see if I can come up with the clip of the ghost I was referring to. For some reason I was thinking it was on the Queen Mary.

Came across this, some might find it interesting. Ghost Hunters - Apparition

I just thought it was one of them.

For what it's worth, I agree with you --- I think it was one of the investigators' [Jason's] reflection.

Now, the other video (Eastern State Penitentiary) --- that's just weird. At first I thought it was a hoax/prank, but when I realized the figure is only three feet tall --- I had second thoughts.

As they've mentioned on the show, a lot of the video they "catch" of this phenomena seems to be of entities that are really short in stature.

I saw that one. Very weird. How about the season finale last year when they were in a hotel in Colorado(?). As I remember Stephen King slept there. There was a scene where Jason and Grant were in the basement and distinctly heard a little girl giggle and speak.

IIRC, they've visited the Stanley twice, and also had a "live" telecast from there on Halloween --- a six hour midnight to 6am investigation. (My wife was outta town, so I got to watch it!)

I don't recall anything too "wiggy wiggy" from the live telecast, but I recall on one of the visits a glass on Jason's nightstand just shattered for no apparent reason.

To me, it seemed that it must either be hoaxed or some "real" bizarre force.

Say what you want, that kinda stuff sure keeps my mind open.

Just my 2 cents, but I enjoy Ghost Hunters. I believe that they started out legit, but then sometimes hoax stuff to keep the show interesting and on the air. Again, that is just my opinion. I like the show, as I said, but I don't watch it to take it seriously. I just watch it for entertainment.
I was not impressed with the Leap Castle episode of Dustin being "knocked down." To me it looked like he fell and over-reacted for effect.
Anyway, I do look forward to the new episodes. I hope there is not too much more in-team "drama." I find that quite tedious.

Resurrecting a dead thread: did anyone watch this last night? They were at "The Shining" hotel...they actually captured some interesting stuff. They irk me, personally, but they're starting to get more captures and good EVP's.

What time and channel does it come on in our area? It's been awhile since I've caught an episode and forget.
