Hi

I'm curious if anyone is aware that Roni Lynn Deutch's "law services" - which as you know are frequently advertised on the show - are a complete scam. A friend of mine was nearly ruined financially as a result of this woman's fraud. A google search on her name will provide many other rip off stories. Her ads used to appear often here on NYC local television, but I believe a lawsuit (or multiple suits) caused them to be removed a couple of years ago.

I've been been a fan of the show for almost a year at this point, and consider some of the best show moments to be when Gene and David expose charlatan guests with no credibility. I don't understand how she is able to hawk her BS "products" on this show.

Rip Off Report:

Rip Off Report:
There's another thread somewhere indicating that she had some difficulties in New York with the consumer protection people, but supposedly paid the fine and cleaned up her act.

However, since then, I've see more evidence of trouble from people who have dealt with her firm. While no company can be expected to satisfy every customer or client, in this case, some of those complaints are disturbing.

As a result, we will, effective August 31st, remove her banners from our site, and recommend to our listeners not to deal with the firm.

I wish we could fully vet all potential sponsors. But when suspicious offers are made, or we get evidence of unsavory conduct, out they go.

That is very honorable of you, Gene. I honestly wish both yourself and David to have financial success from The Paracast (you both do a great job in a field full of frauds) and it can't be easy to turn down money. It's rare (sadly) to see people make the right choices in those regards. Serious props.

As for the ad in question, I've seen her TV ads that run all the time in my area. I wouldn't trust her to fix my sink. She looks like she should would wear Matthew Lesko's question mark suit and tell people that she has a nerve tonic to "cure what ales" if the tax thing didn't work. :D

Well, I'm not saying all tax help companies are necessarily fraudulent either. But if we had a steady source of income from a variety of sources, be it ads, merchandise or donations, we would also be able to take more time to review ads before they go on the air or appear as banners. Some of the ones we have now come courtesy of networks, but we can still control the content to some extent.

In any case, as I write this, the banners for this particular company are gone so far as I can tell, other than in your Web cache. While the ads are on current and recent episodes, they won't be on new ones.

so, to anyone paying attention, if you sent in a few bucks now and then, we would have a lot fewer ads to worry about.

and I don't think our hosts will give a darn if it is only a buck now and then, either. every little bit counts.:D

anyone with a bank account can use paypal.

A sleazy lawyer...who would've thunk?

I've suggested before to put a simple Paypal donation link on the site/forums. I think it is a good idea.

There is one, on the home page and also on this page right beside User CP. Quick, easy, and I have no trouble finding it considering I often cannot find a can of anything in a grocery store if it is right in front of me...:o

Ha, I didn't notice it because I am so use to seeing them in a banner style, ad form. D'oh!

well, I knew about the home page one, but completely forgot about the one by CP... and did a quick edit to put it in so I looked smarter  now if I could only figure out how to stop confessing:o
