Paranormal Novice
Hi there, first time poster here. Been listening to the paracast for about a year now. Since then I've become deeply interested in the paranormal and have had two UFO sightings. I know that some people report that merely being open to the subject and pursuing it can lead to such experiences. Perhaps this is the case with me. Anyway, neither of these sightings really affected me that much. I had no deep sense of fear or slowed/lost time as is commonly reported however last night I had a profound and alarming experience while laying down to bed. The latter of the two episodes happened a few days ago and I feel that this particular incident had a great deal to do with my experience last night.
I'm in a band and we're currently on tour. That having been said I will preface this account by saying none of us were intoxicated, we do not drink or smoke weed while in the van. Only one of us smokes weed (not me). On our way to a show in Atlanta, myself and the other members of the band saw UFOs that were unlike any description I have ever encountered in my research (if you can call it that). We were in South Carolina, near Clemson, SC. It was a clear day, not a cloud in the sky. The sun was going down in front of us. Suddenly I saw two vertical orange rods in the sky. They were about the size of toothpicks. I immediately wrote them off as the run off from jets doing some invasive maneuvers. However they trail never continued. The two rods remained. Then one of the rods vanished before my eyes and then the other. Within about 30 seconds one of the rods returned. This rules out the jet run off hypothesis. At this point, my other bandmates confimed that they too could see this object.
I then noticed that at the top of this rod there was a small object. It was too small for me to provide an accurate description, but I think it was spherical. This object too would disappear and return lit up and then the light would go out. It would do this separate from the rod it sat on top of. After about a minute the whole object faded out within a matter of seconds. Again this was very odd, but no deep sense of fear or "hyper reality" as Dave and Gene have dubbed it.

Last night is when stuff got very real for me. Again I will preface this by disclaiming use of substances. We had played a show in Jacksonville early that night, I had gotten a pretty good buzz from the beer I had been drinking. But after the show we drove five hours to tampa, by which time I was sober and had slept it off. Anyway, As I was laying down to bed and beginning to doze off, yet fully conscious, I recalled this UFO. Suddenly I went into what I can only describe as an intense trance state. I could feel my body dissolve. I had a very uncomfortable feeling of losing control as this panned out. Soon began a rhythmic and recurring distorted and slightly robotic voice which was repeating something in a language I couldn't understand. At this point I was just consciousness and without a body, perhaps I was astrally projecting? I felt a very strong presence with me. I was in some sort of place that I cant really describe. It was ethereal, full of ambient light. I continued to feel very uncomfortable and as if my human mind was no longer human and had become akin to whatever this presence was. I did not understand what it was trying to communicate exactly, I did however seem to understand that it was letting me know that it was there and that it existed. Suddently I came out of the state. I was pretty amped up, heart racing and tense. It was then that I remembered that this was not the first time something like this had happened to me. Other episodes became apparent to me.

I don't really know what to make of all this. I should perhaps mention that I infrequently practice Kundalini yoga and that last night I had done a very brief meditation after lying down. I always feel something of a push in my spine when I do it. This time was no different than any other and I don't feel that its directly linked to the experience, but hey, who knows?

I'm open to any questions, criticisms and what have you. I hope that someone can say that they have encountered something similar.

Thanks for reading.

Reading back I can see how someone would construe this as a dream. I need to assure the reader that it was very different. I was very much awake

Go GAMECOCKS!

Seriously though, thanks for sharing your story. I lived in that region of the country for about 5+ years. My roomate and I had experiences similar to your "trance" / out-of-body. We were living in Columbia SC at the time.

I have had no type of experience, razormaze. But, welcome to the forums (as if I were some big shot here with authority - NOT :o ), and thanks for sharing that.

That must have been quite wierd, and dare I say quite interesting, at the same time.

I hope more people respond that have more in common and can share more info with you.

Razormaze, very interesting. It is always great to hear firsthand experiences.

Some have interpreted alien abductions as out-of-body experiences (e.g., William Buhlman) that are misinterpreted -- not saying you had an abduction. Have you ever done any reading on OBEs? I've personally never have had one, but there is some decent literature out there that approach the topic with some rigor (not the New Age stuff). Perhaps you may want to pick up Adventures beyond the Body by Buhlman, or watch some YouTube videos by Thomas Campbell of the Monroe Institute, and see if you recognize what they describe. Good luck!

thanks for responses everyone, looked into thomas campbell and robert bruce. It's very possible that this was an OOBE. Today I experienced the phenomena again. Same situation, very relaxed and nearly asleep and the thought of UFO's triggered the response. Not sure whats going on here. I didn't think of the same UFO, but a saucer type craft. Attempts to self-induce this since have remained unsuccessful. Any help once again is appreciated

I certainly am not an expert, but it sounds like you may be having out-of-body experiences. Pick up William Buhlman's book cited above -- he walks you through OBEs and how to control them. His view is that alien abductions and some other UFO phenomena are in fact misinterpreted OBEs. He comes across quite genuinely.

Thomas Campbell has developed what I believe is the most comprehensive perspective on what "life" and "reality" truly are, so his work also presents an interesting route of exploration. Campbell is an advanced physicist who works for NASA and was one of the founders of the Monroe Institute. He has several good videos on YouTube, including interviews done on Coast-to-Coast.

Amit Goswami, also an advanced physicist, has also written several books and expresses the view that it is in fact consciousness which is fundamental (ala' quantum mechanics). In his view outside reality is merely a complex array of possibility waves which are quantified by conscious observation (sounds crazy, but foots with quantum mechanics, which is well tested).

Again, good luck.

Razormaze, Hi.

This is my second post in the forums, I too am from SC. Florence, SC and had a 'trance like state' while visiting there with one of my cousins. It's always good to know that other people are having experiences as well, its comforting to know that people are beginning to believe.
