not sure how they could screw it up, the movie. The supposed real events recorded there are so strange, and as the saying goes ...than fiction. So, you recreate some of these events in a fiction plot where a family is so terrified bringing in a team of scientist who can't seem to figure out what's what.. I mean, if the movie is fiction or inspired by true events- you throw in a scene where a portal opens up while some creature struggles to crawl through it, grabs up a cow, carries it back through the portal. Seems to me an endless possibilities for a good script to have come out of this.
