SLV Camera Project UPDATE:

The SLV Camera Project has completed a two week test run and this has resulted in about 700 gigs of data. Unfortunately the ISP moved the network servers out of the SLV and they are limited for bandwidth until February, so we are working on getting a dedicated DSL line to use this Fall/Winter.

In the meantime, here is an example of wide angle footage capturing what appears to be a small helicopter. Now if I was a mystery mongerer, I'd only post the last few seconds of the clip when the sun hits the object and the reflection blooms. I happened to be watching when this flew by and only caught the last couple of seconds. I was ALL excited because it looked like a silver sphere. Upon review, alas, the truth indicated otherwise. Stay tuned for more news on the project...

BTW: This is a wide angle shot looking east toward Blanca Peak.

I'm glad to hear that you're honest about that. You could have garnered a lot of attention by saying it was a genuine UFO because unless I knew it was a helicopter, it would have looked weird to me. It just goes to show how easily we can be fooled.

Ok, that was not a balloon, sir. A plane certainly was ruled out I guess ?
Because the footage was posted on youtube and is overly compressed, you can't make out the details as well as you can on the raw .avi file.
When the object first appears, on the right, I could barely make out something spinning on top. This only lasted for about 3 seconds (at 30 fps) but was enough time to ID it as a chopper. The last 5 or so seconds (if isolated) does look like an anomalous silver sphere because of the angle of the sun and the reflection bloom. I'll post other examples that at first glance seem anomalous, but upon further scrutiny prove to be mundane, i.e., birds, insects close to the lens, etc.

Good catch on that one Chris.

I'm very interested in seeing the evidence that this project collects. Thank you for sharing it with us.

When I watched the video it had 11 views. That's probably the Paracasters.

As a social experiment, it'd be interesting to upload it with the title, "UFO captured on film!!!" How many views and comments would that get? :)

I just posted it before announcing it here.

Yeah, I thought briefly about doing that, but I don't want anything at all to adversely impact the project, if I can help it, etc. What you do with it is your business, however :)

Don't encourage me! It's always tempting to my sense of humour and curiosity to run a sock-puppet YT and forum account.

I blame my parents for instilling some ridiculous sense of ethics that's caught up with me. :)

FWIW I think what you're trying to do is admirable and 'walking the walk.' [insert a 'thumbs up' smiley]
