I went to check out the latest updates from the SLV sky camera project and was discouraged to see there have been no updates for about 4 years. I would think there should be lots of anomalous stuff to check out like Bigfoot, Thunderbird, giant serpent deity, etc... Has this project gone belly up? Did more than one camera ever get activated? Where are all the photos or video taken so far? The web site has very little information about the project except how to donate. Maybe an update or two would renew interest in this cool project.
Chris, do you have any new information to share?

I'd be interested in hearing about this too - and before Chris gets annoyed (we have come to an understanding over PM) I am not trying to bait him.

It appears as tho there only a couple of people interested in this project and Chris may have lost interest because of the lack of updated info....Does ANYONE have any information to share about this SLV project? It is a hot spot of activity, a "paranormal Disneyland" as Chris says. Shouldn't we be seeing dozens of photos of UFO's, Bigfoot, Thunderbirds, serpent like deities, cattle mutilations, black helicopters, ghosts, etc?... there are anecdotal reports from 2007-2009 but no proof or even blurry images of anything that I can see on the website. I do see I can give money to help or I can buy a book about alleged sightings of various anomalies and another book is coming soon about cattle mutilations... but nothing really about the SLV Sky Cam project. I want to see some of these "creatures and features"! I want to see a Black helicopter chasing a UFO that's in pursuit of a Thunderbird that is about to swoop down and snatch up a Bigfoot that is mutilating a cow... or something...

Chris: "There's not many places in the country that have the variety and intensity of 'creatures and features' that this place does. I think I've established that pretty accurately in ten years of investigative work. So let your readers decide if that's an accurate statement or not."

Tens years of work in the field is very impressive. Even more impressive would be some actual photos of something unusual at this paranormal Disneyland. Letting readers or viewers "decide" about authenticity or accuracy of the reports sounds familiar... ;) Is there a signal coming from SLV or just a lot of noise?

O.K. i'll bite. Chris could you please set aside your work on your forthcoming book and concentrate on the slv camera project.

It shouldn't take too long to post an update every year or two. Who would seriously donate to help if there is nothing to show for the donation? A photo or two of something anomalous, a photo of a camera in place, a scan of an investigative type report, a bigfoot track, a blurry image of a black helicopter or ufo, a pic of Chris with a mutilated cow or a giant Thunderbird feather...something to generate some interest in the project would be great.

Still trying to solve the bandwidth problem. We captured 3 terabytes worth of data from the first camera position over a 9 month period but have been struggling w/ getting the internet situation solved. The local ISP is expanding high-speed into the center & northern part of the valley. We have several months of footage that hasn't even been viewed yet. We have had some interest from a video engineer, software development type who (we hope) is going to step up & help design & develop the customized motion-detection algorithms we need. With no budgets and no help, its been an uphill battle all the way... this project requires money, volunteers and a lot of hard work... anyone want to step up and help out instead of taking pot-shots criticizing and poking fun? Pixelsnit, I mean smith? ;)

Done! I just donated $100. I'll hold out for your stalking the herd book. fwiw the site would not take my debit (visa) card...my preferred choice...but it did take my credit card.

I thought maybe it was something like that. Why not tell people on the website what you just said here? Networking your needs is how to get stuff done quicker. To just ask for "help" and money with no updates or explanation is going to be uphill all the way.

I've been in a holding pattern until my volunteer web guy finishes the "new" OSP site. My SLV database hasn't even been re-posted! Earth-2-Ben...HELLO? BEN, come in...Once the site is finished we can work on a dedicated SLV Camera Project Site and begin to generate the interest we need to take the whole camera project idea to the next level. Need I remind us: Its really tough to get things completed when its an all volunteer/limited budget scenario...

Thank you for your kind donation. Yeah, the donation thang and the "OSP store" are in-need of serious help—so is the camera project... How would you like to see your donation utilized? There are many different things that need $$$ but I'll earmark your donation, if you'd like.

no not especially you can use it to knock back a six pack if you want. as far as your website, I WAS going to bring it up earlier but you just touched on it just now .it would be nice to get your database on the new web site. perhaps you can bribe Ben with a steak dinner with my donation.

heh-heh, good idea, I'll take your advise and run w/ it to Indy where Ben is HQd. Thanks again!

WOW, 3 terabytes from camera 1 in 9 months. Glad to here its up and running at least. Going to need some hours just to sift through so much data.

So there you go... A little yank of the chain and some constructive criticism resulted in Chris scoring 100 bucks.. you are welcome Chris!

don't take pixels post in jest too lightly guys it is shockingly close to the truth. I also forgot to mention that in my post but he does deserve an assist.

How about this 'crowd-sourcing' thing? Steven Greer or Steven Basset seem to manage to get a heft wad of dough up for this or that so one would hope that people would maybe give for what in principle is fantastic idea. Setting up quality cameras in a region with very high reported sightings rates should be held as a shining example to all of serious Ufology.

Once the teething problems are ironed out I hope to see this site doing what it was intended to.

The fact that the equipment exists and is in place etc is great. There are so many empty promises in many walks of life and certainly in the UFO field so it's really nice to see people (Chris I don't know who all deserves credit for the project) actually doing something constructive in an effort to learn more about this phenomena that we all find so interesting.

I know the Paracast has a strong leaning toward UFOs over any other single paranormal topic and even though this might originally have just been due to the interests of the creators, it does reflect the views of many of us anyway, i.e that we are interested in a wide range of weird topics but UFOs are at the very top of the list for many of us, speaking for myself, the UFO mystery is easily my number one paranormal interest. So there! :p

Vive' la SLV camera project!:)
