Somebody Else Is on the Moon by Leonard

Paranormally Disenchanted
The book Somebody Else is on the Moon is of course out of print, the author is dead, and the original publisher is no longer in business as far as I can tell. Who knows who has rights to Leonard's book or if it will ever be reprinted?

In an effort to preserve this book I'd like to get a copy and make a PDF version that everyone could have access to.

The cheapest copy of the hardcover I can find is sitting at $100.

If I can get folks to split the cost with me I'll buy it, create the PDF to share it with everyone and draw straws (or some agreeable method) to see who gets to keep the hardcover copy of the book when I'm done.

I have two folks to date who have said they are willing to get in on the effort and get a chance on the hardback.

Are there any other folks interested in contributing to preserving this bit of UFO history and maybe getting the book for their own library?

I'd like to get cranking on this while I'm still in Lunar obsession mode.

Suggestion: Have a target number of interested parties (might get the ball rolling sooner) e.g. need 20 people to ante-up. To get a good 'flat' scan (particularly of diagrams and photos), you may have to remove the binding -- using a printing guillotine. If that is necessary you may end up with a looseleaf version of the book to raffle off (no longer mint). Just my thoughts... and count me in by the way (the Canadian Dollar is doing very well right now ;)).

Another idea (oh yeah; I'm full of them) is to find out who has the rights, some (wealthier than I) individual, or group, could then offer to buy them and reprint with updated materials -- and an Introduction from Mr. Ecker (or Mr. Childress...)

Yes Jerry, it's that easy...

I couldn't bring myself to destroy the book. I don't think the quality of the lithographs is such that it would justify it. But you do have a point, it all depends on he binding. If I had to I could OCR it and format the text. Sadly the paperback version costs as much or more depending. I feel better about destroying a paperback at any rate.

20 people would be optimal I think.Something tells me there aren't that many interested. I can leave it open for a few days, see how many people would be interested. Maybe we buy a $5 chances. You put in $25 and you got 5 chances of winning the book.

I'm open to ideas.

I've got email into the seller trying verify that the book has all of its pages. If the reply is positive I'll go ahead and get it ordered.

WAIT! STOP! I HAVE A PAPERBACK COPY!!!! I am willing ot just give it to you free under the condition that I get it back after you are done! I am willing to part with it in the name of preserving the book! the book is complete in all ways but its PAPERBACK....(small pics)
let me know if u are intrested in the book and if you are send me a private message with your contact info I sent you my cell phone no via private message if you are intrested!

Guys this is funny, not 6 months ago, I found a paperback copy of 'Somebody Else is on Our Moon' in a charity shop. 50pence is all I paid (about 30centsUS).
I'd also be willing to lend my copy but it is the paperback and no doubt the hardback is larger - someone with more knowledge than I of printing can maybe answer whether the resolution is still the same in each version, I mean that the hardback is just a blown-up version of the paperback and therefore not any better quality?

The funny thing is that I'd only heard of the book not long before I came across my copy by complete accident. I'd never even been in that shop before. Fate? Coincidence? Who knows but I still smile at the synchronicity:).

For anyone not awake recently, this weekend, 21st April, the Kevin Smith Website is hosting an online, 5-speaker, hour-a-piece, i-conference in which our very own Don Ecker is gonna reveal a large, quality print he has kept out of view that supposedly beats hands down anything in George Leonard's book.
$10 is all for the whole show. I paid just for the moon-phot and I imagine everyone on this thread would think it worthwhile! Cannot wait!

@Trained - you joining us at the i-conference? If so, think you'll have any questions?

Even though I have no doubt Don knows all his stuff regarding the moon phots, I was thinking that if I come up with any decent questions regarding the moon phots, I may send them to Don before the conference so he may have more time to give a fuller answer.
There is only gonna be 15 mins or so per speaker available for asking questions and we know that these things can go off on tangents very quickly - the 15mins may get eaten up very quickly so it makes sense to make the most of it.
How say you all? :)

Please..........please.........please again..,......I implore the 'overlords of the UFO' (;)) to allow Don's picture to be something great. If the phot is genuine and it really indicates artificiality.....well, I don't need to spell out the implications.
Of course, debunkers will see odd rock formations where others may see something truly unexplainable by current thinking.
Anyone versed in the geology and astrophysics of the moon knows our only natural satellite is a mystery in itself, regardless of structures on the surface. Science acknowledges that there are many aspects to the very existence of our moon that are still not explainable.

Alien artefacts are just a possible bonus - the moon remains a mystery even without any ET stuff in the equation!
Long live the strange, perfectly sized, perfectly orbiting, perfectly placed pock-marked face in the sky!:p (I'm all a-glow, just thinking about the conference!).

pixelsmith - go to the Kevin Smith Show website. On the home page is a link for the i-conference. From there you can use paypal for the ten bucks. They send you a code to log in with to your email and also a test code to make sure you can receive the stream. It starts at 1200 Pacific and last 5 hours - 5 speakers at one per hour. Supposedly 45mins for presentation and 15mins for questions.

Don is revealing his moon phot during his, Kevin is doing some stuff on Mars. Klaus Dona has replaced Nick Redfern recently and there are 3 others, whose name escape me right now.

Really, for $10 the value is amazing and obviously there is no costs usually associated with going to a real conference. I will be sitting comfortably with a few beers.:)

I am trying to get my paypal problems resolved so I can join. I contested a charge and things got mucked up. I should be good to go by tomorrow I hope.

I'm sure he will cover the pedigree of the thing which should be pretty interesting. What analysis he has had done on it and so forth.

@Pixel - I take it you are joining in....if you haven't read the Leonard book, Trained has it scanned as per above..

@Trained - hope you are sorted with Paypal to make the conference. I am gonna have a look at the scanned phots and see if I can notice any quality difference between your copy and my own paperback. Leonard makes a lot of 'x-drones' but I think I can only really see them in one of my phots. The funny thing is, some of the detail he pointed out escaped me for like 20 separate viewings and then I zoned in on them by accident. Once you notice stuff you tend to be able to see it again easier.
I am trying not to get too excited about Don's phot but the fact is Don has been on many shows talking about the moon phots and we know he isn't an idiot that falls for any old UFO story - because of that I am quite hopeful. :)
