Sonic Booms in San Antonio TX

My friend recently had been telling me lately that she's been hearing a big boom that made her windows shake. Well today I was over at her place near the medical district of San Antonio, TX. We went outside to have a smoke when I heard it for myself. It shook the glass patio windows and made me jump abit.The noise was coming from the sky and not just a loud crash. The weather was clear and the sun was going down around 5pm.

Does anybody here live in San Antonio and do you know any thing about this? So, I'm guessing these loud booms are involving the United States Air Force base thats nearby... And it is illegal if they are the cause, right?
