A number of months ago someone (I think it was Gareth) mentioned listening to one of Greg Bishop's broadcasts with guest Richard Sarradet on. On this show, Richard Sarradet mentioned having appeared on my former show, UFOs Tonite!, with a fellow named "Dave Toreli" who's regular day name .... was Michael Younger.

Now, this is a very complicated thing, but at that time, I was suspicious of this guy ... for a whole lot of reasons. However .. this fellow had some kind of .. "connection" to who knows what? It seemed to be an intelligence connection that was very ... shall we say ... Tricky.

Now, back in those days my wife and I were sole owners and publishers of UFO Magazine. We had a reputation for breaking some very big UFO stories that even involved national security ... or perhaps it might be more honest if I said "National Insecurity." UFO Magazine was not the "Flap-doodle Monthly" that it is today. We busted stories like the STS-48 story with "something" that appeared to be shooting at UFOs in orbit, we broke stories like Phobos 2 and its encounter with a huge and unknown UFO in Mars orbit, we broke stories like the intelligence sting mounted at UFO researcher Lee Graham that was carried out by the AFOSI and FBI. Some very big shit, okay? And Vicki (my wife) and I were at the heart of it. Over the years I was asked many times if Vicki or I were ever targeted by "forces unknown" at UFO Magazine or my radio show, UFOs Tonite!. I honestly told them ... never to my knowledge. However I later learned that even though no one ever approached us, we were apparently under observation by ... who knows .. for quite awhile. The show you are about to hear may have been one reason for that. Why? Well, whatever this guy (Dave Toreli-Michael Younger) was into, it had intelligence implications. As you will hear in the shows opening, we were under surveillance at the radio station even before we entered the studios. Later I was told that my radio program was monitored by some very powerful people ... regularly. Hell, I was pretty upfront with whatever I did, and did not sneak around with it. Of course, being an ex-cop and with my military service in special ops/intelligence .. maybe they figured (whoever they were) that I was not worth screwing with. I don't know even after all these years. But it is worth your while to listen to this episode.

This guy, "Toreli-Younger" is now dead. He was found by LAPD lying dead across some railroad tracks a number of years ago. Rich did not attend the funeral and I didn't know about it until later. I was curious about whether it was an open or closed casket funeral. I asked Rich today and he didn't know. I mean this would not be the first time that someone was reported dead that wasn't. Hell, maybe I am simply being cynical or even a little paranoid .. but I don't think so. At anyrate, here it is ... the Conspiracy show that I am calling "Spies-Lies- and Audio Tape." Enjoy.

That was a fascinating show Don. I really wonder what that dude is all about.

So he is dead now? Or just dropped off the scene?

I think I heard a name slip in there too :D Someone mentioned "Richard".

Yes he is dead by all accounts. He left behind a wife and some children that Rich tried to help after his demise. I am sure that whatever he was involved in, I and Rich and others will probably never know. Like I said, it was a weird time and a weird case.

Richard and I have a lot of material from and on this "Mike" or "Dave" or something.

My take on this is different than Don's (at least his take at the time) because I thought it was useful to talk to him on a regular basis about whatever he wanted to say. A lot of it was not checkable, at least initially, but the info could be stored for later. He gave us three huge volumes of material he had written which included apparently genuine copies of classified documents, some of which were probably not publicly available at the time. The docs were included to prove his argument that there was a lot of unwritten history for which the public should pester the Government through FOIA and elsewhere. The reproductions included a few pages from the MKULTRA, MKNAOMI, and MKSEARCH programs of the CIA, as well as little-known articles from military and civilian magazines and newspapers.

There is much more to this story on which Richard and I have discussed possibly writing a book. It will probably be more of an account of interaction with a government source than any revelation about UFO reality as regards the Government, but it might be interesting, since it would illuminate the intel world's attitude toward and handling of conspiracy and UFO researchers.

By the way, Mike was probably a cut-out. We found out after his death that he was not exactly who he said he was, but that his information (at least some of it) was genuine and he did have connections.

Don, did you ever consider the possibility that the surveillance was staged for yours and Richard's benefit as theater, and to gauge your reactions? Could open up another whole series of questions!

Hi Greg. Boy, I will tell you, I had almost completely forgotten this entire episode until I dug this radio interview out. It was not until I had talked to Rich again, then did the short interview with him that I recalled the guy in the station parking lot. If I recall, it did not make a huge impression on me at the time. Hell, I was always pissing off somebody back then. The Pentagon, AeroJet, JPL, NASA, somebody ... not to mention many in the UFO field. Naming them would take up most of the space in this forum. So if it was for my benefit then I suppose I must have disappointed them. Maybe ... who knows? By the way, how are you doing?

In the show there is an article mentioned from some newspaper in the 1920's-something regarding a "radio camera" and some faces that appeared upon the film. Do you have any additional information on this, or can you point me in a direction to research this topic? It's the first time I've heard any reference to this and I'm wondering whether this was an actual event or a hoax or what...

Xylo, the reference to the radio camera is real. Back then I did a lot of research into the incident and yes, it really happened. Of course I have no idea of where the signal originated from, but it did happen. I have not really thought about that in a very long time. I will see if I can "easily" dig something up on this for you, but I am up to my ears in a number of things. If I do not mention this to you in the next week or so, remind me.

Why did his family need help = were they in hiding?
