Star Lifespan and Chances for Intelligent Life

Free episodes:

Maybe that is true.

Intelligence isn't neccessarily the end result of evolution though. It has just emerged probably due to a number of factors that forced it. It is certainly plausible that intelligence could have evolved on Earth much sooner than it did. And it is also plausible that intelligence might not have occured at all. It depends on what factors, what changes in the environment or surroundings, were able to force these changes.

If it were not for certain major events that happened to our planet, we wouldn't be here at all. All things the same, the same animals, plants, etc survive indefinitely. So, depending on the rate and magnitude of change along with the current variety of life forms it's not impossible for intelligence to evolve much sooner.... or much later.

And of course life on Earth is all we have to go by. It's not only the only thing we know, it's the only thing we can even think of. I can't say that there might not be some type of "exotic" life forms throughout universe. Maybe there are. We also need to understand that we are in our infancy. Humanity has gained great insight and knowledge, but maybe it is a mere scratch on the surface.

Interesting to ponder. I wonder what discoveries are ahead of us in the future decades that I hope to be around for.
