A linguistic friend of mine once pointed out that yoda doesn't really speak backwards any more than say spanish or french speakers do. Like yoda they put the noun before the pronoun or the adjective, or maybe better to say they put the descriptive before the thing they are describing as does yoda, which makes me wonder how lucas handled yoda's syntax in the foreign language releases of the star wars series, to keep his "yodanish" intact I wonder if he spoke like us english language speakers talk.

I'm still really pissed at George Lucas for not just back-pedaling, but going so far as to mangle and destroy the whole concept of The Force.

In "The Empire Strikes Back" The Force was a great field of living energy that tied together and balanced everything with the "good side" and the "dark side". There was wonder and mystery and awe about it.

"The Phantom Menace" gutted all that and made it something cartoonish, and I can't help but think Lucas did that on purpose. I don't think Lucas even likes most of his fans.

It's like "Empire" was the Metropolitan Museum of Art......and "Phantom" was the Super WalMart that fell out of the sky and crushed it.

But I still remember the Star Wars that once was.
