I like Hawking but I don't agree with his staunch belief that light speed can never be broken.
We're still sophmores, at best, at understanding physics. For a great length of time we didn't think the sound barrier could be broken either.

Light speed isn't even a constant, according Hawking-as time plays a role. Even still we have witnessed the apparent breaking of this quantum constant we call "light speed."
