STS120 DISCOVERY- UFO 11-04-07

Free episodes:

Just after the flash of light. Look to the left of the shuttle appendage and you will see the faint outline of the curvature of the earth. There is a faint glowing object that slowly moves left to right and goes behind the appendage.

It looks as though there are more than one, possibly more than two. A third is working past the curvature just as the video is cut off.

It could be some space junk floating around. There is plenty of it up there. Anyway, it's impossible to tell due to the quality of the video.

Has anyone ever seen the footage of an object shot either from a shuttle or space station flying about above earh atmosphere and then veering from what looked like some kind of a missle or energy weapon fired from the ground. I've seen it on one of the UFO shows on History or Discovery channel years back. It was pretty impressive.

STS 48. Yes, it's the most popular. I heard awhile back Jack Kasher has since changed his mind somewhat on it being alien craft.

Here's some info. on the film/vid.

I still haven't seen any STS flight footage that is amazing in any way including this one.

All of the one that have been called UFO footage show the same thing. Floating indistinguishable objects that fly at constant speed and direction. The others looks like lightings bursts or sprites in the upper atmosphere.

Even the footage with the so called missile or beam weapon ( STS48 ) is unconvincing and looks like maneuvering thrusters causing floating debris to fly off. Notice that after the flash (thrusters) the object changes directions but then stay constant speed and direction. If it was a controlled craft would it not take additional evasive action? If if was a beam weapon then that is the slowest beam of light that I've ever seen. If it was a missile it sure didn't track the target after launch.

Until I see some UFO footage that shows a vehicle doing controlled maneuvers with changes in speed and direction without external influence I will remain highly skeptical of the shuttle videos.

That was STS 48. Ecker broke that story on Hard Copy back in the early nineties. Then I suggested we take it to Larry King's show after Don received email replies on the paranet that disappeared when he tried to retrieve them, immediately followed by the total crash of his computer. The repair shop found his computer had been attacked. We were a little paranoid, so I suggested that we get the story a broader audience as a kind of self-protection strategy. James Oberg sat in as 'counterpoint' and we backed him into logical 'Hobson's choice' over the fact that if he knew there was something to hide here, how could we believe him, since he would have to cover up or lie about it if it were true. You should have seen his face-priceless! The next day, NASA shut down the open downlink on the k-band. Oops. You can track it all down on the net. Richard

The problem with that video and the reason it made no impact after Don broke that story, is the footage isn't that great by todays standards never mind twenty years ago. I could not conclusively say that was object was from off-world, it just looks to me like a white light source or something, the video is really bad for anyone honestly to say it was something Alien!

There is something there...it is faint...and it is (or they are) moving at such a constant speed and bearing that is impossible to tell if they are other satellites (my guess) or space junk or just a series of reflections on the camera/window.

If the thrusters fired, the camera position (the 'post' as we say in cinematography) would move. It doesn't, Perhaps it's neither a beam weapon or a missile-though I don't think we proposed that one. Perhaps it's a rail gun firing 'brilliant pebbles.' Perhaps it's a meteor shower heading in just the right path to appear to be something aimed at the rising light. The coincidence of 'evasive action immediately following the screen blossom could be just that-coincidence, or not. However, the quality of the video available at this date on line is awful. We had a first generation copy directly from Stan McdDaniel at the time. There is alot happening in the sequence in other areas of the frame. Look to the right at the rotating or blinking light. Notice another object that enters from the right and appears to lazily approach the vicinity of this stationaryblinking or rotating light (a satellite with a blinking light?). Then notice that just after the first streak heads in the direction of the object rising over the horizon THROUGH the atmospheric haze, a second streak is seen heading on a different vector from the bottom of frame (more meteors?), just like the first one does in the direction of the object that appears to be moving into the vicinity of the rotating/ blinking stationary light. The second 'wandering light' also moves out of the path of the second streak, then returns after a moment back to the vicinity of the rotating/blinking light. This footage was analyzed by Dr. Jack Kasher at the University of Nebraska. His analysis stated that the light that rises on the horizon, rises THROUGH the atmospheric haze, drifts to the left, then instantly changes direction and accelerates to 55,000mph. That is his analysis conducted at the University, not ours. He puts the distance of this object at at least 1200 miles distance from the shuttle camera. A whole chain of misleading coincidental events being misinterpreted by over eager ufologists is quite possible. The video continues as the shuttle passes into the sunlit part of the earth below. Several objects are visible again below the shuttle orbit. One crosses in the frame at an ascending angle across the upper left quadrant of the frame. It appears to be spinning. Upon magnified enhancement, it appears as a large spinning disc. Is that part of the shuttle footage available in the version you saw? Coincidentally, NASA removed the live real-time K-Band feed through which the original video was recorded shortly after this video appeared on Larry King. It is all open to interpretation; perhaps NASA didn't want to have to deal with these kind of hassles from wishful ufogist types, so they decided to remove the possibility in the future. However we were informed by a reliable Washington source that the Pentagon (not NASA) was extremely pissed at Don (I was off camera collaborating with Don during the entire scenario, and seemed at the time to have escaped their notice) over the episode. I later received indirect but strong confirmation that the another agency was also reactive to it. So, there is the 'open to many interpretations' sequence of events as I can relate them. Richard

Astroboy...?

That is pretty significant. It is difficult to make an accurate assessment of what is going on with the quality of the video available to us online. The same can be said for lunar photos as well.

I'am sorry, but I have no idea what you are trying to show, or, for that matter, what I am looking at. pb

Really???? don't be that guy.
There is absolutely no depth perception, and I really am trying to see something other than condensate ice crystals. I am not saying that something is NOT happing, but the proof is in your court. Otherwise we have to assume that this is just space “boogers”. pb
