Super Rats

Free episodes:

Aaron LeClair

Paranormal Maven
I just came across a Monster Quest vid, and didn't know something I've seen twice, and even video taped once was something cryptozoological. Super rats. Anyone ever seen huge rats? Wish I still had the tape. I showed numerous people it. The thing was about as big as a large cat but way fatter. 3 other band members saw the last one with me, in which I recorded.

Or maybe it was a huge mouse. Looked more like a rat to me though.

Any chance it was a Nutria:

Definitely rat-like. And big.

One of my neighbors had a penned nutria for a few years. Though he lived on the other side and the other end of my block, we could hear that nutria cry out every now and then. Sounded like a very sad, very loud baby. Haunting.

Anyway, that was going to be my guess too.

It didn't have whiskers like that. I live in NC and saw them here.

A lot of people I talked with said it was a large field mouse or field rat. I can't find any pics of field mice or rats that are huge though.

They (Nutria) are very common in coastal NC -- not sure up your way. I don't recall seeing one in the Piedmont, but I wouldn't be surprised to find one around here.

Mostly I see them near the coast close to brackish or freshwater bodies of water with cattails.

If the whiskers didn't jump out at you, probably not a Nutria. The whiskers are very obvious at close quarters. Their tails look very rat-like.

I've never seen a big rat, but I saw a large colony of rats that had infested a barn at my grandmothers when I was little. I remember their teeth especially. Ugh. I just got a chill thinking about it. They were relatively big, but not cat-sized.

That appears to be a Nutria -- webbed back feet and a white patch on the snout. But something is going on around its ears that doesn't make sense to my eyes. (Has he bent the front legs backward?)

So...are we are getting into the subconscious reason you picked your Paracast forums handle? :D

The face legs and tail looked different than what I recall seeing. What I saw was cuter believe it or not.

I wondered if someone would make the connection between this thread and my name. Nope, no connection. I been meaning to get Gene to change my name to my real name, but keep procrastinating.

OK, Aaron, real name or what? Speak now or forever hold your peace.

:D

It's time to start thinking of a name for this new cryptid:

Carolina Superrat
Mighty Mouse-rat
Gnasty Gnawer
Cat Rat
Scarekidsintowearingshoes Rat
Sasqurat
Loch Ness Mouse
Carolina Catequalizer

Just a few ideas. :D

What! What about the aura of mystery????

I'll give you a gas cloud, just pull my finger.

I think it should be called Paranormal Packrat now that I'm done with the name.
