Supposed UFO hits Romanian Military Jet

Free episodes:

Ron Collins

Curiously Confused
Supposedly, on October 30th the Romanian military boadcast a story on national TV that 2 MIG 21 Lancers were on a routine exrecise. Flying at 6300 meters altitude (20,669 feet) and at 500mph while breaking through a cloud layer, both pilots spotted a flight of 4 UFO's heading directly at them. One of the UFO's hits a MIG and busts the canopy and severly damages the leading edge of the right wing. The pilot is forced to land immediatly.

I have posted the link to a Romanian news agency below. There is "newsy produced" video that accompanies the romanian text.

I have sent an email to Paul Dormeanu of the Romanian UFO Network but have not heard anything back yet. I'll keep you all posted. In the mean time, if anyone has more information on this or happens to speak Romanian, it would be appreciated.

I just heard back from Paul Dorneanu. Here is what he says.

Mr. Collins,

can you point me to this story?

It is completely wrong. I am following up on the story and I will have something on the English version of our website.

Short story is:
One (not two) MIG-21 Lancer, which was on a training mission, was hit by something in the air.
The pilot did NOT see what was that hit him and broke the canopy. The pilot was also injured and had problems landing safely and he was guided by his wife in the trafic control tower. The altitude at which the incident happen was about right... 6500meters so does the speed is probably right.
Several days later, the officials from the AirForce base, said that in the recordings they got from the aircraft it seems that 4 black triangles hit the canopy, however they could not correctly identify what they were exactly. The footage was not made public. The footage was, they said, the AF officials, sent to the SRI (romanian intelligence
service) if they can figure out what was there. I assume that in this case the story has been burried already. The defense minister seems to deny the pilot to talk anymore about the incident, therefor he started to refuse any interview so far.

I will let you know as soon as we have more on this case.

6500 meters = 21,325 feet for your reference. I am planning to do some quick research on how high birds can fly just to see if a more prosaic explanation can be made.
