I dont know if this was ever a topc, but has anyone seen the "Tallahasse UFO" video? It's weird and at the least doesnt appearto be a hoax. I dont know what else to say about it. Just wonderoing if any serious analysis went into the video. Check it out here:

There has been a thread on this somewhere on these forums, and I remember thinking that this is Venus. Venus is about 22 degrees above the horizon on that date in the western sky. That would be my guess.

Yes I've seen it. It gets more interesting later on. There's a thread at ATS on it, and one here I think, but not sure.

Some explain it away as flares.

Now, that annoys me some somewhat..... WHY do some people now latch onto the "Flare" theory? Flares do not hang around in the air for 20 minutes. In one of the Phoenix Lights documentaries the slow falling cased flares they were showing had a burn time of around 5 minutes, but obviously, they would be falling at this point, not just staying vertically in the same spot.

I would have to rewatch the whole vid. I don't recall getting the impression that the lights stayed in the same place. Flares tied to balloons can stay up a long time. Movement depends on wind and strength.

But it would be pretty tough for them to star in formation even if the wind were blowing them in thesame direction.

I just think that Flares are the new Swamp Gas lol

It wasnt stationary at all. It actually descended and then crossed across the sky pretty quickly.. It also seems to change shape somewhat. It's very weird and the red light is pretty constant. I really dont see how any one can call this Venus or a flare. A flare tied to a baloon? I really dont know how that would work, maybe to a parachute? That would have to be one huge flare to see it at that distance and last pretty long. Still, there is something strange about this video.

At the least its a genuine video, not a hoax. The guy was with his family, his wife & daughter see it. The video is 20 minutes, not like 10 seconds like others videos.

Im really surprised this hasnt been analyzed more seriously than the ATS forum. I wonder if the paracast guys have seen this.

Well, it seems considerably higher in the sky than 22 degrees from a horizon too.

You're absolutely right. The "object" is nearly overhead, and certainly rules out Venus and the Moon.

About the brightest thing overhead at that time of day is Vega, at about 0.00 apparent magnitude. My gut feeling is that Vega would *not* be bright enough to account for this.

One thing, though, I don't get the impression that the "object" is moving...at least not in a way that I can rule out the movement of the photographer.

I don't trust the appearance of the image at all zoomed in; camcorders just can't take good pictures of far away points of light.

What's the confidence level that the date/time stamp of the film is correct?

Just take some time and watch the entire video and you will see its not stationary and the guy takes out his tripod so he isnt moving. Also, the guy has been upfront about the whole thing. I checked out the ATS boards and the taper has openly posted the video and I believe submitted a hi quality version to someone. I dont know what happened after that.
