Ted Phillips - May 3rd & 5th video of amber orbs at Marley Woods

Impressive? Really?

I really like Ted and respect the guy alot, but that is probably the crappiest video I have ever seen. The "night vision" thing has been brought up here several times as a bad idea. Now I understand. Someone is going to have to point out the "Animal Reactions" to me. I am totally missing that. All in all, I thought it was just bad. I could only discern a few bright flashes and thats it. Could have been a firefly for all I can tell.

The stills on the page are pretty cool though.

It's very hard to get good night vision footage without an extremely expensive camera.. All aside WTF is is with the noise whenever the light moves?
Since when do UFOs make the sound of someone dragging a stick on the ground?
Umm no..

Can't get the video to play :(. That said, the still images are quite interesting, but a little inconclusive.

Inconclusive, but better than nothing. I would have liked them to use a normal camera on this, becaue their photos that accompany this are pretty good. Philips and his crew seem like the real deal, though, if hampered by a lack of funds.

Definitely better than nothing - and better than a lot of other stuff I've seen. Like you, I see Phillips as a credible source. He has a large number of detailed articles in the MUFON journal about Marley Woods - in some of the 2006 and 2007 volumes, I believe, maybe before then. They're all online and free to download, at:

Here is why I think it is fairly impressive:
1. Something of a predicted(by location) event. They expect to record something at this time and location and they do.
2. Multiple known and reliable eyewitnesses.
3. Multiple cameras(still/video). Granted the video has a lot of noise but I'm sure they would be delighted if someone would donate a few state of the art HD cams w/ fast lenses and third generation true nightvision gear. I would love for them to post an uncompressed torrent of the source video.
4. Audio documenting reaction of the wildlife. It is plain to me that the birds in the area become very vocal at the same time the lights appear.
5. Report of a "rumble". My guess is that this isn't actually picked up on tape as the frequency is too low and they are more feeling it than hearing it. The sound of the "stick dragging on the ground" is likely them scrambling and bumping to reposition the camera, not the reported "rumble".

From what I can see, the lights do not move. The first right->left motion is the rapid panning the camera to the right which you can see by watching the treeline. To my eyes this looks like stationary lights coming on and off.

I realize the whole Marley Woods story is a lot more than just these orbs of light but if you were to only look at this video I think you could say it is suggestive of Persinger's idea of earthlights described by his Tectonic Strain Theory. Rumble, wildlife reaction, plasma balls in the atmosphere. It would be interesting to look at seismic activity for this time/date/location.
