TED Talks are some of the most amazing presentations out there. I urge everyone to seek them out.

Here are a few of my favorites although there are so many that I urge you to go to the TED Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/tedtalksdirector?blend=1&ob=4):

Here's another great talk by Michael Shermer from this year which perfectly describes my attitude towards all things paranormal.:

Thanks for mentioning these. I've always enjoyed the TED talks mini-seminars and presentations. It's always something fresh and interesting.

TED talks are great. I've listened to Spencer Wells, Zimbardo, Bill Stone and covered areas of anthropology, archaeology, psychology and space exploration. It's a very good website and I've just scraped the surface.

I've watched the Shermer talks and enjoyed one in particular whilst another one was rather poorer. He seems to hold an uncomfortable presence onstage. He makes a reference to UFOs in one and his body language or expression is in contrast to the certainty of his statements. It was last year, but the discomfort he exhibits was memorable. Generally, he makes a lot of sense.

A recent episode involved a talk on how to present great TED talks. It was funny and very clever, yet the long standing ovation seems OTT. Perhaps some incident preceded the talk? I dunno. Still, I enjoyed his satirical lampoonery. :)

ETA: Dawkins is a great mind, but I find him to be a dull speaker. I saw him a couple of years ago in Liverpool and wouldn't be in a rush to see him again.

The one I posted is one of his more spirited presentations, but he is rather hit or miss. His writing on the other hand is wonderful (at least everything I have read of his, which is far from everything).
