Ten sci-fi devices that could soon be in your hands

Free episodes:

Smell-o-Vision. Geez.

Imagine the aromas pumping out of a John Waters film. Imagine that
commingled with the vomit of a hundred spectators wearing pheromone
cologne.

The future is going to smell amazing.

I did not see Portable Death Ray, Anti-Gravity, or anything close to a lightsaber.

The future is going to be just as boring as it has been for the last 40 years.

Yesterday, I bought a vaporizer from Target.

Imagine my disappointment when I pointed it at my neighbor's house, and all it did was steam up the windows.

smell o vision is just the tip of the iceberg

"a device that fires pulses of ultrasound at the head to modify firing patterns in targeted parts of the brain, creating "sensory experiences" ranging from moving images to tastes and sounds."

sounds like VDU's are going to wind up with the steam engines eventually.

imagine 5 ppl in a room with no TV, but each one is "watching" a different chanel...........

I wouldn't trust anyone to modify neuronal firing patterns in my brain. What's to say they won't be firing new thoughts and ideas along with images? Scary stuff.

i remember watching ET the movie at a cinema when it was first made, during the back to life sequence i found myself crying like a baby, i covertly snuck a look at my fellow patrons to see if anyone had spotted my soppy display.........wasnt a dry eye in the house........

i imagine there would be regulations for content like we have with todays technology ie sublimunal advertising etc.

i also imagine that companys that write todays anti virus code, will be selling "brainware", that is purpose written neural routines that scan incoming sources and check for malicious content, spam etc etc

In "Reich of the Black Sun", Joseph Farrell mentions that the University of Heidelberg were playing around with a "disintegrator ray" during WWII. He even has a picture of the circuit used to energise the quartz beam emitter thingy (technical term of course) :D. Apparently anything put in the way of the beam would just vapourise ... disappear. Thats definitely what happened when 76 rats were put in the way. Forget about ratatouille :D.
