So I've been slowly preparing myself for a 30 day fast.

I promised myself that I would go back to doing Kung Fu, and the mind / body purification is a 30 day fast before you return to study.

It is Day One for me.

So far, so good. As I get further in, if I sound more angry than usual, chalk it up to the fast.

Just giving everyone a heads up, because I know how difficult I can be when I'm cranky.

that and bad breath lol.......

ive fasted for 14 days at a time on many an occasion, well worth doing.

hope it goes well for you

Are you saying you are not eating or drinking anything for 30 days??
You'd have to at least drink water right??

yes, you do drink water.

some people drink watered down juice as well, but traditionally the body of the fast is water only.

typically you go into it eating simple raw foods, and juice, increasing the water ratio in the juice day by day till its just water, then you fast drinking water only for the prescribed period, and at the end you reverse the process gradually increasing the juice content up, and then moving to simple foods.

your body is very clever, once you "flip over" and start burning your own cells for energy, it targets the sick and diseased cells first for consumption.

very good for you to do, and many vets recommend the same for pets.

of course always get proper advice before doing anything like this, there are a number of good books on the subject

one side effect is enhanced sensory awareness, when your body flips into this mode, your hearing , sight and sense of smell get very acute. prob a version of hunt mode

Water, and to keep the breath fresh a little lemon juice.

Did it like 11 years ago when I was doing Kung Fu. Doing it again, so that I might regain my discipline.

So this is Day 2.

I took a nap earlier so I'm not quite as cranky.

Read the latest news and am thoroughly disgusted.

Not sure what to talk about today.

I guess having a valium or something to diminish the anger would be missing the point?

So just how fricken hungry DO you get not eating for a month? I imagine day 26 would be kinda uncomfortable (unless you just convince yourself that you cant eat and in so doing do not become hungry).

Would be interested to know how much weight you lose.

the hunger pangs dont last all the way through, once one stops taking solid foods, it takes 3-to-4 days to shut down the various systems in the body, before it moves into the advanced stage or autolysis or self-digestion, which is where true detoxification begins.

the "hunger" goes away after about 4 days, and you dont feel it, and in fact its return is usually a signal the body has detoxed, and is ready to start the process of a return to ingestion.

this period varies depending of the person, but some fasts go for over a hundred days.

these guys have formula as well

Anecdotally, during our 35 years as the global leader in our field--with clients on seven continents representing 220 countries--we've discovered it takes your chronological age number plus 17, in number of actual juice fasting days (plus five transitioning days on each end--to intelligently enter, and then skillfully break your fast), to remove the inner, toxic waste dump accumulated over your lifetime: toxic chemicals, drugs, uneliminated metabolic wastes, excessive cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, arterial plaque throughout the body and brain, intestinal parasites, heavy metals, etc.

great... at my age I would die of starvation. Not gonna fast, nope. had a hard enough time going 1 day on water and clear liquids. Ain't gonna happen.

ps, Tommy, wear SOMETHING in your pic, please?:D

Sorry, a little of topic but....What form? I started Hop Gar in '94.About 6 months later I had to move and instead took up TKD. I have often considered learning one of the open fist arts.

I found a Shaolin school here where I live. I studied it for a few years before my car accident.

It's Day 3.

I'm doing okay. Feeling fairly normal.

Apparently my demeanor is improving.

It's really not as bad as it could be. So long as I leave the Television off, I'm fine. The goddamned commercials for food make it difficult.

I've been more tired than usual, but I figure it's my body processing all the junk food and crap I've eaten over the last few years.

Looking forward to seeing how much tonnage I lose.

If you see me acting way out of line, pay no attention. It's just my stomach taking over.

lol the same thing happens to me, TV is very unhelpful, esp those sara lee adds, first she rolls the pastry, and then she folds it...........

TV food comercials are a thing to avoid in my experience

Drinking a 5 gallon bottle of water from Sam's Club. It's the reverse osmosis stuff so there's none of those pesky minerals, chlorine, or flouride.

I have a bag of lemons and limes to slice to add to the water just to keep the breath from getting bad.

It's going pretty well all things aside. The wife thinks I'll fail. I think I'll succeed.
