Don't know about that Gene, but they have their place. My Macbook is a 2006 model. I guess I got one of the bad ones. Regardless, the same basic issues have been around for years.

The Alienware I'm posting this from is faster and more feature-loaded than any Apple in it's price range and it can do nifty things that no Apple laptop can do at any price. (User configurable backlight color, etc) Also, due to lack of software support because of the small market share, I'd have to set any Apple machine up for dual-boot and buy Windows 7 if I wanted to do any gaming. The Apple just won't do everything a PC will do without installing Windows. The reverse isn't true, so that's another strike at the cost of ownership idea.

And desktops are worlds away. I can build a desktop out of premium components that is faster and cheaper (by BIG bucks) with more storage space every time.
