Has anyone pre-ordered one?

I should be getting mine sometime in June - I woke up too late to pre-order it in time to get an earlier shipment. I did try one on and it looks quite nice.

I have not worn a watch since 12:46 am April 6th 1973

If you could facetime on it I would buy one.

No camera. Maybe the second or third version. There's just so much you can pack onto that system on a chip. It uses the iPhone's camera.

I ordered the 42mm Sport with the Blue band. After trying on a few, including the black sport model, I'm happy with the choice I made and I'm not changing it. I'm not a huge fan of the matte black finish and I like the silver more. I took a couple of pictures at my try on appointment last Friday . I liked the sport band feel quite a bit, and the Milanese loop is quite nice as well, although I'm not going to spend the money on it just yet. I'm not sure if you've had the chance to try it on yet, but it's quite nice. Not as nice as my Swiss watch you can sort of see in the pictures sitting on the table, but WAY nicer than any of the smart watches available.

After a few days with the Apple Watch, I must say that it's pretty great.
It's amazing for fitness tracking and I've enjoyed using it for a few workouts.

I had the unfortunate experience of having to go to the Apple store yesterday for some service and that place was wall to wall packed. During my time in line I had a chance to look at the watch and I have to say I just don't see the benefit of one. Do you find you are using it for messages/emails/calls/ etc. like you would the phone? I think in the next few versions it might get to the point where it would be useful, especially if they can get it to the point it doesn't have to be tethered to your phone.

The pairing of it was very Apple-like - no manually entering of anything. You basically have your phone see the watch through the Watch app and it pairs - it does its thing for what seems like a long time, although it was under 10 minutes for me because I didn't transfer any apps at that time.
It takes a bit to get used to using the crown to navigate because you want to touch the screen (that works fine too). The "taptic" engine is pretty cool, although just like the vibration on a phone, you won't feel it if you're moving too much.
I like that even though you have a passcode on the watch, if it's on your wrist and you unlock your phone, the watch unlocks and stays that way until you take it off.
The workout stuff though - that's my main reason for buying it and it did not disappoint me. It's really nice to see my calorie burn.

I'm not going to use it as a phone... seems sort of douchey to me. I mainly bought it for the fitness stuff and the notifications. I only get notifications for text messages and health related stuff, and my phone will ring on the watch but I'll answer on my phone.

It really is something you need to live with for a bit. I may get one for my wife this Christmas or her birthday. It's also quite nice as a watch.

I love all things apple and i think it is really cool but I won't be buying one until it facetimes like a Dick Tracy watch.

Well... I wanna know what they think! :)

i have an android but i don't see myself going the android wear route, the thing is, for the watchs to display any of things we would find that we find useful requires a certain size, i've always been partial to a subdued looking watch, nothing that really sticks out so even when i wear an ordinary watch , it's usually smallish and understated. even then i find myself taking the watch off a lot as for whatever reason i can't bear having it on my wrist for any length of time which defeats the purpose of wearing it, so i have a built-in aversion to any of the companion watches regardless of which kind of phone one has.

i'd more likely go the fitbit route and wear it only when i'm hiking or sleeping as some models monitor your sleep cycle.

I was going to get a fitbit, but then Apple announced the watch and I decided to save up the money for that. My number one reason for getting the watch is so that I can track my fitness metrics - that stuff is super interesting to me.

I dont wear a watch myself, havent for years

I do have a small collection of fob watches that i wear in conjuction with my DW costumes, but thats more for the costume effect than actual time keeping.

Im reminded of the joke of two guys discussing watches

First one boasts his new swiss watch that only loses 3 seconds of time in a year

The second guy shows off his broken wristwatch the time stuck at 20 past two

The first guy laughs and shakes his head

But the second guy points out, yours is only correct once a year when you set it, after that its wrong by a tiny fraction every day. Mines right twice a day every day lolololol
