True it is much safer and faster but if you have ever been out on the ocean on a large yacht or tall ship it is a powerful experience.
I remember sailing from Lyttelton port to Nelson many years ago and hitting Bad weather between Kaikoura and Clifford Bay where you enter the Cook Strait.
The waves were the as big as the yacht if not bigger.. its is frightening but also a hell of an experience you do not forget.... but to round the Horn in a tall ship back in the day. ah no thanks that is just mad!
