The Coming Ban On Organic Farming

Free episodes:

I am a big organic consumer. I hear things like this every few years and so far it hasn't happened. In fact I will ask my health food store friends about this next time I visit and see if this is anything to really be concerned about.

We grow a lot of our own vegetables, and it's really not all that difficult. Getting good black soil, and the right combination of sun and water, and you've got vegetables. We've always done well with ours, and if someone wants to break down my door for my tomatoes, it seems silly to stop me from being self sufficient. Especially when half the produce in this country goes to waste every goddamned day.

It's not silly to stop people from being self sufficient and waste as much as you can when you are Monsanto. This bill was drafted by the wife of a political advisor for Monsanto. It will kill farmer's markets.

I guess you could chalk this up for another reason to live in Canada.
I almost considered moving to B.C. when they decriminalized a certain plant...but then they changed their mind.
I love the land I grew up in. I just don't like a lot of the people.

I go down to Indiana every summer for a big car show. I always have a great time and I am normally treated well by the locals. There's the odd crackpot comment here and there, but for the most part, good people.

I hope people don't take my support of Canada as an insult to the USA, b/c it really isn't. You have a great country down there, but you've got some real ass-hats in positions of authority and cosequence, and I'm not just pointing the finger at George.

This country deserves any and every insult hurled at it. I don't have the lung-volume to voice my own.

We are pretty Monsanto-free up here. I know we banned their shit from going into our milk supply years back.

Not quite true about being Monsanto free. I seem to recall a case not too long ago that involved Monsanto suing farmers out west (Saskatchewan I think). I would have to double-check to be sure about the exact details.

That's why I used the term "pretty" and not "absolutely". Crops I'm not sure about, I just remember the BGH thing being a big deal.

You may not have the BGH, but those cattle may still being fed with GM corn. Selective breeding...good. Splicing jelly-fish DNA with my tomatoe...bad.

True but if it is a BGH cow eating GM grain then you're dealing with two levels of genetic tampering, which we are avoiding here... I think.

It's pretty decriminalized evreywhere up here, just don't grow it, or sell it.
It should be legalized where you live skunky, if only to stop the brutal shit going on in mexico right now.

Law enforcement higher-ups, not the grunts on the beat, love all the violence. Meat and potatoes, man. Job security.

I don't think organic food is going to become illegal any time soon. But if it happens, there would be one positive side effect...Whole Foods might go out of business!!
I feel a mix of awe and disgust for that huge corporate behemoth of consumerism that has convinced everyone they're actually the complete opposite.
