The fourth Kind film was a bit sick dont you think ?

I saw that film the fourth kind the other night and have to say that the film was pretty sick ! Its perported to be true when in actual fact it isnt.

You also see a man murder his own family then comit suicide and its supposed to be genuine true footage of the event though thank god its fake.

the film ends on a note that there is a missing 6 year old girl out there supposedly abducted by Aliens.

Sick bastards is all I can say.

They are using cheesey shock tactics to make up for bad script writing. The subject matter itself is scary enough without resorting to this kind of shock impact. I mean I thought that the abduction scene in Fire In The Sky was genuinely scary.

I literaly thought that I'd witnessed a man murder his family. Kind of made me feel a little depressed having a family of my own.

Maybe I'm too sensetive for my own good but I think that this was way over the top.

It's all about the mighty dollar. Chances are, the people signing off on these films are only interested in known names. Be it actors, directors or writers. It's a shame because as Gene put it, many talented writers that aren't given a fair go.

This movie was fucking useless.

Unsurprisingly Milla Jovovich doesnt do much for movie unless shes getting her gear off. (sorry girls, but you know its true ;))

theres a reason why america has one of the highest murder rates in the world :P wonder what it could be >_>

Because of bad movies that get made in Bulgaria? Actually the United States is number 24! Right behind Bulgaria!

I just was a little suprised as to why they should stoop so low to get an audience. Seeing as the subject matter is freaky I really enjoyed Fire in the Sky It genuinley was a tad frightening and also it was cool to see that guy out of Terminator 2 act as a RedKneck. I know fire in the sky was Bullshit but it was entertaining.

I'm waiting for the alien abducton movie where the abductee runs Amok on an Alien spaceship because of bad script writing.

Stooping low is what it's all about. It doesn't stop people in real life going down the same dead end road...aka psychics, mediums, dust busters, conspiracy theorists etc.

It's just a movie man.

I'm trying to think of a historical event, phenomenon, etc. where Hollyood did not frak it up when it made a movie about it. Alas, I can't think of one.

I thought that Roswell Film was good.

My family was involved in a student exchange program many years ago. We had a teenager from Russia stay with us in suburbia for 3 months. During this time period, the movie RED DAWN came out. We went to see it. He was horrified. He said "Why do Americans think that Russia would come to the USA and do those horrible things, and that a band of rebels could save the day? This movie is awful." He was very upset.

I had to explain American movies. They appeal to different audiences. I think this pertains to the Fourth Kind movie.

There are serious movies made for an adult audience. Then there are "teen" movies, made to attract teens on a date, the kids hanging out in a mall with nothing better to do than go see a cheesy but scary movie. Teenage boys (stereotype) love gore and violence, and the movie industry is happy to provide it.

Consequently, you have to evaluate WHO IS THE AUDIENCE for a movie? Not all movies are made for a mature reflective audience because there's no money there (unless you are making a big budget masterpiece). Movies made to scare people by their nature are not very intelligent. So why would you expect them to be? Since you are obviously on the internet, you might check out ROTTEN TOMATOS website which has reviews from alover the world on any movie you put in the search field. This might save you disappointment in the future. Nowadays, going to a movie "cold" is dangerous unless you like to waste your money.

Yes I know about the differnce between a quality director and cheese also I that most films produced in Hollywood are Formula designed to sell.

This jist of this thread was about the shocking and awfull disturbing idea of convincing the viewing public that they had just witnessed real life footage of a man that has murdered his Family. That was all.

Well, as the comedian Steve Martin used to say "Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse Me!" :o

The Fourth Kind seemed to be the sci-fi equivalent of Paranormal Activity. Both supposidly based on a "true story" with a faux-documentary style of filming. I don't see how anyone could have thought either film was the real-deal, but apparently some movie goers did.

I didn't realize it was filmed in Bulgaria. It sure looked like some parts of Canada to me! ;-)

Milla Jovovich looked at me out of the screen with a sincere look on her face and told me that footage was real. You mean I can't believe Milla!

True, thanks for reminding me of that one. I wish there were more Paul David's out there that made movies like this.
