Bloody hell ... he was a bit self-deluded so he has to rot in the fires of hell for all eternity. Bugger me thats a bit stiff. Still at least the girl got to live a really short life.

ps also does anyone else see the strange vague jewishness of his features ?? or am I just being anti-semitic again?? :D

These Chick tracts are legendary, and if you get over the offensive absurdity of them then they are kind of fun. He used various art styles, some quite beautiful. People hate his message, yet collect his art

WOW! This is disturbing on about 10 thousand levels. Talk about indoctrinating the youth. Shit like this just bleeds away my hope for humanity.

Your only way to salvation is through me. Glorify God to the highest. Live to serve you lord. If not, YOU WILL BURN IN HELL. Oh and by the way, there is no heirarchy to those commandments, lying and murder are the same in the eyes of god. Did I mention that you will BURN IN HELL?

WTF? No Thank You.

If you ask me, that god needs some serious fucking therapy.

On a related note, if god goes to a therapist and is diagnosed with a "God Complex" how does the therapist break the news?

I have a great fondness for those Chick books. The example you have posted is extremely tame. You really need to explore his work in depth to get a full appreciation for the worldview. A major running theme is the Pope as the Antichrist.

I can remember when I was young our neighbor's kids would come stick them in our door even though we went to the same church as they did. I'm not sure if the kids had a distribution quota or what. I don't remember if they were Chick's work or not but I also recall some great full sized color comic books that were all about satanism and rock&roll with all kinds of descriptions of sex, drugs and human sacrifice. They were beautifully illustrated and at that tender young age they were by far the most graphic and disturbing things I had yet seen. I think Bob Larson probably considered them reference material.

I guess I have been out in the cold this whole time. I had never heard of the "Chick Books" until this week. Very disturbing and uni-dimensional/denominational to say the least. (I cringe when I read these things)

BTW, Here is his site, if you want more of the same type of brain-washing: http://www.chick.com

Yes I did, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if that was not an accident. People who would distribute tracts like these will lump Jews in with Catholics as heretics. I experienced this sort of attitude a few times growing up, but nothing this strong.
Strangely though, I have never heard of Chick tracts before this.

So... God is a kitten?

Makes sense to me! Cats rock.

Anyone else notice that "The Great One" looks a lot like the stereotypical Nazi portrayal of a Jew?

Some say pushing religion on children in this way is form of child abuse - I'm inclined to agree. Yes children of all ages can be 'smart' and 'think for themselves', but you tell them to be good or 'Santa Claus' won't be visiting this year and they will believe you!

I've never seen these things before, and living in the proverbial "Bible Belt" I thought I had seen them all. When I find stuff like this laying around I pick it upand trash it. I just wish I had some gloves on when I'm handling it, just in case the paper is tainted with some sort of mind altering drug that turns me into a religozombie.

Replace the word "children" with "adults" in that last sentence and sentiment still works.

Or amend 'children' to 'individuals with under-developed reasoning skills' - I know some adults who fit that description :D

I wouldn't be too concerned about kids seeing it...looking at the state of our youth today, it's clearly not having the intended result anyway. I always preferred to be the one giving my child his moral base, not the church.

Well, if you had a strong religious belief 'transferred' from your parents, then you'd probably be doing the same job as the church...

I'm quite sure we didn't do that.

But as I said, obviously the church's intent of the pamphlet, clearly isn't doing anything. So who cares. For many kids there's no fear of reprisals or punishments from parents, the law lets more walk after committing severe crimes every day, and many parents these days would rather let an idiot box or another kid raise their kids. They cant be bothered.

Maybe these are the kids that need fire and brimstone religion...the consequence sure as hell ain't coming from anywhere else.

In my experience you can typically only convince those who are already convinced, especially when it comes to religion. It takes more than a poorly-drawn pamphlet to make someone stop believing what they have believed for years.
