Sleeping with one eye open . . .
I recently came across a book by George Friedman, founder of Stratfor, entitled The Next 100 Years, in which he discusses the broader economic and geopolitical trends for this century. Given some of the dialogue on this Forum, I thought some may be interested in Friedman's views. Below are links for two YouTube videos (lookup "Next 100 Years - Stratfor - George Friedman") which provide a highlight of some of the topics discussed:

Interesting. His comments pertaining to the influence of geography are compelling. Thanks for posting.

I subscribe to Strafor's intelligence reports. They are a kind of private CIA and keep tabs on everything happening in the world. I get as many as a dozen reports a day. They are neutral and not political in that they call it like they see it. Interesting stuff, though expensive. www.stratfor.com

More proof that confident assertions pass for fact. He's rooted in a US-centric perspective.

It may seem like it from the videos, but if you subscribe to the service, that's not true at all, other than he speaks English. They have had very realistic information on Pakistan and Afghanistan, for example, that doesn't give any breaks to the US. They are also quite perceptive on the events in China. Their analysis of what is really going on in Russia is very perceptive and doesn't even take the US into consideration. Compared to most US MSM, which ARE US-centric, the reports from Straqtfor are quite accurate. You want to see a slanted perspective go to Debkafile, an Israeli 'equivalent' where you can't trust what they say at all. They once had a fleet of US destroyers in the Indian Ocean, for example, which was totally bogus.
