An ancient convergence of proto-humans and neolithic people will in itself forshadow the future of a species that resulted from such a convergence...this is almost a truism. The real question is, how much value should we place on "consciousness", I think much more, or a lot more then we are, and that will have to become clearer over time, not immediately.
