The only area where C2C surpasses The Paracast...

The Paracast is nearly perfect, but I gotta say that C2C really has you guys beat on the theme song. Tribal vibraphone can't really compete w/ Giorgio Moroder. I think you guys should upgrade the song. Yay, nay? Any suggestions?

If I'm alone on this one then I'll shut up ;)

Radiohead's 'Like Spinning Plates' would be perfect. Actually they used a sample of that in the earlier episodes of the Paracast...

...just in case you didn't know, Radiohead are the most important rock group on the planet. :D

Yea that's definitely a fitting song, nice and eerie. 'So Easy' by Royksopp would fit nicely as well, it's got that otherworldly feel to it. Or maybe 'Spirits in the Material World' by The Police, if they want the song to be thematically relevant :)

Without provoking a debate of which Radiohead song would make the best Paracast theme (because between David, Deckard, myself and some others that debate could go on indefinitely) this came to mind first:

What about a GarageBand/Mac speech composition a la "Fitter Happier"? In the background you could have Ralph or Fred say things like:

"I'm a Leo, I'm a Performer"
"He who shall not be named"
"asshat"

...etc.

Just a goofy idea....

Ha that would be pretty hilarious, they should have a band compose that song. 'The Song That Shall Not Be Named' by Leo and the Asshats.

That sounds like Jack Black composition, in line with his "tribute" song.

I have to confess that I skip "Fitter Happier" when listening to "OK Computer"...

...quite a few years ago I bought The Orb's U.F.O. album - that's got some eerie segments too...even quite hypnotic in places.

Deckard - funny you mention that, I have every single song Radiohead has ever released - and many unreleased - ripped into iTunes, with the explicit exception of "Fitter, Happier". Can't stand that track.

BrandonD, I threw together that into music in an evening, just goofing around. if I have some time in the near future, Tommyball, I'll take your suggestion into consideration.

Didn't mean anything negative about the song, it just doesn't stand out like C2C's theme.

I actually think the intro music is fine - you should keep it because it's original and it has become synonymous with the show.

Do you have the Radiohead "On a Friday" Demos?

Pretty interesting from a historical standpoint. From what I understand it's their first recording and technically they might have been called "On a Friday" rather than "Radiohead".

I can put it up on my server with some other funky stuff if anyone is interested. I also have a large live music library. I have about 10 Radiohead concerts, some of which are soundboards. Also got some old talking heads, phish and dead.

Also if you like Radiohead check out My Morning Jacket. I think they are where Radiohead was right before OK Computer. Really good band. Grab their CD / DVD "Okonokos" epic stuff.

"The only area where C2C surpasses The Paracast . . ."

. . . let's not forget those other obvious areas like ad revenue, listening audience size, and variety of guests. :p

I'm sure Gene and Dave wouldn't mind pulling down George's paycheck for all the effort they put in to the show. Especially since George simply has to host theprogram and is not responsible for the production and distribution of C2C.

It's good to be king . . . of an already established nation-wide radio show.

Ah, but as you know, Radiohead aren't afraid to try something 'unconventional' (as if they could ever be labelled 'conventional') and I love 'em for it. It's just that in this one case, it didn't work, but I'm still glad they had the balls to put it on the album. :D

I have a friend who repeatedly tells me that Radiohead are 'depressing dirge' and that their songs make him want to slash his wrists - I'm quite the opposite, while some of today's 'manufactured pop' is truly depressing (for it's shallow blandness, if nothing else), I find Radiohead's songs make me want live! Some of their songs can bring me to tears; not through depression, but through joy!
