The Principle of Vibration

The Kybalion is small and freely available on the web. There are con artists using the Principle of Attraction to make a lot of money - The Secret. I suspect this compilation of Hermetic thought was done by Masons in Chicago including William Walker Atkinson (see New Thought Library for free books of his).

Vibration includes the Harmonic and the Logos (see my work and threads) as well as the Aether. You could even say they are just words describing variations of the same thing. Note the Pythagorean Therapeutae saw color as a vibration as well - see work covered here under Cymatics.

{Pythagoras and his Golden Mean is still studied by the Masons and he is credited with
inventing the musical octaves.} Then, the motion being still further increased, the next
highest note is distinguished. Then, one after another, all the notes of the musical .scale
appear, rising higher and higher as the motion is increased. Finally when the motions
have reached a certain rate the final note perceptible to human ears is reached and the
shrill, piercing shriek dies away, and silence follows. No sound is heard from the
revolving object, the rate of motion being so high that the human ear cannot register the
vibrations. Then comes the perception of rising degrees of Heat. Then after quite a time
the eye catches a glimpse of the object becoming a dull dark reddish color. As the rate
increases, the red becomes brighter. Then as the speed is increased, the red melts into an
orange. Then the orange melts into a yellow. Then follow, successively, the shades of
green, blue, indigo, and finally violet, as the rate of speed increases. Then the violet shades
away, and all color disappears, the human eye not being able to register them. But there
are invisible rays emanating from the revolving object, the rays that are used in
photographing, and other subtle rays of light. Then begin to manifest the peculiar rays
known as the "X Rays," etc., as the constitution of the object changes. Electricity and
Magnetism are emitted when the appropriate rate of vibration is attained.

When the object reaches a certain rate of vibration its molecules disintegrate, and
resolve themselves into the original elements or atoms. Then the atoms, following the
Principle of Vibration, are separated into the countless corpuscles of which they are
composed. And finally, even the corpuscles disappear and the object may be said to Be
composed of The Ethereal Substance. Science does not dare to follow the illustration
further, but the Hermetists teach that if the vibrations be continually increased the object
would mount up the successive states of manifestation and would in turn manifest the
various mental stages, and then on Spiritward, until it would finally re-enter THE ALL,
which is Absolute Spirit. The "object," however, would have ceased to be an "object"
long before the stage of Ethereal Substance was reached, but otherwise the illustration is
correct inasmuch as it shows the effect of constantly increased rates and modes of
vibration. It must be remembered, in the above illustration, that at the stages at which the
"object" throws off vibrations of light, heat, etc., it is not actually "resolved" into those
forms of energy (which are much higher in the scale), but simply that it reaches a degree
of vibration in which those forms of energy are liberated, in a degree, from the confining
influences of its molecules, atoms and corpuscles, as the case may be. These forms of
energy, although much higher in the scale than matter, are imprisoned and confined in the
material combinations, by reason of the energies manifesting through, and using material
forms, but thus becoming entangled and confined in their creations of material forms,
which, to an extent, is true of all creations, the creating force becoming involved in its
creation.

But the Hermetic Teachings go much further than do those of modern science. They
teach that all manifestation of thought, emotion, reason, will or desire, or any mental state
or condition, are accompanied by vibrations, a portion of which are thrown off and which
tend to affect the minds of other persons by "induction." This is the principle which
produces the phenomena of "telepathy"; mental influence, and other forms of the action
and power of mind over mind, with which the general public is rapidly becoming
acquainted, owing to the wide dissemination of occult knowledge by the various schools,
cults and teachers along these lines at this time.

Every thought, emotion or mental state has its corresponding rate and mode of
vibration. And by an effort of the will of the person, or of other persons, these mental
states may be reproduced, just as a musical tone may be reproduced by causing an
instrument to vibrate at a certain rate -just as color may be reproduced in the same may.
By a knowledge of the Principle of Vibration, as applied to Mental Phenomena, one may
polarize his mind at any degree he wishes, thus gaining a perfect control over his mental
states, moods, etc. In the same way he may affect the minds of others, producing the
desired mental states in them. In short, he may be able to produce on the Mental Plane
that which science produces on the Physical Plane-namely, "Vibrations at Will." This
power of course may be acquired only by the proper instruction, exercises, practice, etc.,
the science being that of Mental Transmutation, one of the branches of the Hermetic Art.

A little reflection on what we have said will show the student that the Principle of
Vibration underlies the wonderful phenomena of the power manifested by the Masters
and Adepts, who are able to apparently set aside the Laws of Nature, but who, in reality,
are simply using one law against another; one principle against others; and who
accomplish their results by changing the vibrations of material objects, or forms of
energy, and thus perform what are commonly called "miracles."

As one of the old Hermetic writers has truly said: ‘He who understands the Principle
of Vibration, has grasped the sceptre of Power.’” (5)

One source of vibration is the Pineal gland which has small crystalline structures that buzz like a crystal radio receiver of old. Crystals emit piezo-electric charges visible in colors when under pressure. When we center ourselves in the Third Eye region we are accessing this and other nearby glandular attunement (Thalami - see The Wonder Child). Mircae Eliade wrote these important words on pg. 129 of his great little book The Forge and the Crucible from the mid 50s. I wish I had run into it when it came out - or that such books were available in school libraries. A simple explanation of this centering process is FREEDOM! Freedom from Maya or Samsara - the busy mind.

"...both Tantrist and alchemist strive to dominate 'matter'. They do not withdraw from the world as do the ascetic and metaphysician, but dream of conquering it and changing its ontological regime. In short, there is good ground for seeing in the tantric 'sâdhana', and in the work of the alchemist, parallel efforts to free themselves from the laws of Time, to 'decondition' their existence and gain absolute freedom.

The transmutation of metals may be ranged among those 'freedoms' which the alchemist succeeds in enjoying: he intervenes actively in the processes of Nature ('prakrti') and in a sense it could be said that he collaborates in its 'redemption'. (Biblio: This term has not, of course, the same significance as it has in Christian theology.)" (1)

{Pythagoras and his Golden Mean is still studied by the Masons and he is credited with

Actually Pythagoras is credited with the Pythagorean scale, a twelve note system of perfect fifths, sometime referred to as Pythagorean tuning ( E♭– B♭– F– C– G – D – A – E – B – F♯ – C♯ – G♯ ).
Then, the motion being still further increased, the next
highest note is distinguished. Then, one after another, all the notes of the musical .scale

Falls apart right about there. This state is called a plasma.
And finally, even the corpuscles disappear and the object may be said to Be
composed of The Ethereal Substance.
And it seems like we've stepped off the ledge about here.
Science does not dare to follow the illustration further,
Yup. Off the ledge.
but the Hermetists teach that if the vibrations be continually increased the object

Now in free fall.

Well we sure wouldn't want our mind to be too busy or it might figure out that this is equivalent to New Agey nonsense.

Debunking a stated position set up as a lie - based on fictions supported by religions stealing the science and repressing any truth - is why the DARK ages were called Dark.

I prefer to study rather than blindly eat pablum.

In what follows you will see reference to Cultural impacts on evolution. In that thread I address what you correctly stated modern science is learning - from me and other hermeticists (including Murray Gell-Mann and many other Nobel Laureates who could be called Alchemists as Jung is by Wiki).

I would also draw your attention to the ordained minister (and a real studious person who actually studies) talking about commonly held opinions dealing with hypnosis rather than the sharing or ESP 'between' minds that many fence post types are unable to do - but could learn if they STUDIED. In that regard last year at the University of Va they proved what I said since my teenage years about the physical connection shown between psychic points, chakras (neurophysiological system) and the brain.

Phillippus Aureolus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim might have been his name but the von Hohenheim family name is a little bit too grandiose and wealthy for me to think of him as one of their legal offspring. It would be more likely he was a bastard child. It is of little importance at this juncture because he exceeded any birthright potential - he was one of the greatest alchemists this world has ever seen. The name he took for himself basically means 'above Celsus' or greater than this early Roman man of knowledge sometimes called an encyclopaedist and physician. Celsus is of importance in early Christianity and once you weed out the dogma about some mythical Roman spy like Paul and the Prophet Jesus they wrote a new religion around - you can imagine Paracelsus knew God or nature better than Celsus; in his own estimation. Because his own father had been a doctor and chemist which the Oxford people think was a reason to call him an alchemist, I think he learned a great deal as he did rounds with his father and OBSERVED the stupidity of medical practice in his time. You can assume I am biased to believe he was a scientist rather than a mediocre religious fool and in the Oxford link they make it a little clearer than some other fictions which intimate he believed in some Christian God. The following link will give insight to Celsus and debates including early church fathers or paid hacks for Romanism. http://gnosis.org/library/orig_cc1.htm

This link indicates he was a person who took the path of Harmony of the Spheres or Cosmogony of the Sephirah. It speaks of his travels through many lands in search of knowledge. It still misses a great deal. Their description of his state of mind as he died is akin to a book of lies called Man, Myth and Magic put out by Time/Life a couple of decades ago. Yes, no doubt he was frustrated by the ignorance of his era - and also I have no doubt he would be frustrated to read these false biographies by people who have not studied alchemy or any portion thereof - and do not even think to interview one when writing such crap! http://toxsci.oxfordjournals.org/content/53/1/2.full
Zoltan Rona M. D. is the author of a modern encyclopedia of medicine who tells as much truth as one can when he says our present practices are a "blip" on the history of medicine and Paracelsan Medicine is superior to drug-pushing.

This excerpt from a thread titled Hi iSal deserves a beginning to a new thread - methinks.

I also noted your interrogation aligned with integration - and yes, we must interrogate what we seek to integrate. You are shedding light in areas I did not know you knew. You got this connection to Socrates in that quote. The stuff I did over the weekend along with some sprucing up; could make that thread on Cultural Impacts on Human Evolution a full blown class to take a semester or two in. I have even considered sending the thread to Cardiff University to offer them my services. But I would have to finish my sojourns elsewhere first - unless it could be done on line.

I think she was already using other tools as Paracelsus says in the great story you linked (Rose). And thus unites or integrates the physical with the spiritual alchemy, which most do not get. If one goes about their wanderings expecting to get anything - one is not on the RIGHT path. Oh yes, that is a GREAT story!!!!! It reminds me of Ben Jonson's main character (Subtle - a malapropism of sorts) upbraiding his student in The Alchemist.
  1. Sitting back, he put his fingertips together, and said, "You offer me gold, believing I hold the secret of the philosopher's stone, which turns base metals into gold. It's not gold I seek. If it's gold you're interested in, you'll never be a disciple of mine."

"I don't care about gold," the other man answered. "These coins are but a token of my willingness to work. I want you to teach me the Grand Secret. I want to follow by your side the path that leads to the stone."

'The path is the stone," Paracelsus said slowly. "The stone is the point of departure. If you don't understand these words you have not even begun to understand. Each step along the path is the destination."

The other man looked at the master with misgivings. "But is there a destination?" he said, his voice changed.

Paracelsus laughed. "My detractors, who are as numerous as they are stupid, say no, and they brand me an imposter. I disagree with them, though I may be wrong. Yet, there is a Path, I know."

Paracelsus cured the royals in Europe of syphilis using mercury. He also cured the whole city of Stertzing, Austria which was suffering from the Black Plague. That was in 1524 while the Pope wavered about whether or not people in the Americas had a soul. The Church was still selling disease was caused by sins and demons, or the barbarism of Galen.

Healers use the energy in all things. Paracelsus said nature has a cure for any disease brought about by nature - and like all true alchemists he knew nature was the only agent at work.

The neuroscience forum (I belonged to - see thread on the Singularity) has a minister of the Unitarian Universalist persuasion. We are discussing all manner of things related to the soulful sciences and I wish to have my readers see this wise older man has a lot to offer at this juncture. Here is Rev. Lindsay King’s response to me (as RTB) in a thread dealing with healing and hypnotic effective or positive thinking potentials. He had a Sunday radio hour on a major radio station and healed another top Toronto radio personality of a death by cancer prognosis.

‘BTW, RTB, to my great relief, way back when, I came to understand that--and I am not sure where I first got the idea, maybe from the writings of Milton Erickson--hypnosis is not something that a "master" does to a "subject". It is, rather, what happens between people when they interact with one another. Hypnosis is something a curious student learns from a wise teacher.

For good or ill, this powerful interaction can take place between individuals and, on a one to one basis, lead to negative and/or positive things happening. Or, like the example you gave, charismatic personalities or leadership types, including entertainers, spiritual leaders, evangelists, political leaders, whoever, can "work" the audience and make positive and/or negative things happen.

THE "FORCE" IS NEUTRAL

For some time, now, I have been convinced--and I am always open to be persuaded otherwise--that this powerful mental/spiritual force, which I call the pneuma component and factor, is like the light and energy which comes to us from the sun. Of itself, it is neutral. It can be used to do evil or good. If I exposed myself to the blazing light and heat of the sun for too long, without mercy, it will physically kill me. If I look at it, without proper protection, it will blind me.

In my opinion, if there is a powerful mental/spiritual force waiting to be understood and used, the worse thing we can do is nothing. Sure the taking of any kind of action involves risk, and the making of mistakes that could cause us some pain. However, if we allow ourselves to be motivated by fear of the unknown and other destructive emotions-powerful pneumatological tools often used by clever obscurants--and not to try to understand and to work with this "pneumatological force", evil is bound to happen.’ (4)

4) The Rev. Lindsay G. King, also posts to several Brain-Meta.com topics. He was ordained in 1953, as a minister of the United Church of Canada, which respects freedom of thought. He served the church and had a successful ministry, until 1994--just over 40 years. Now, he likes to think of himself as re-directed, not retired. Not your typical theist--though he respects all sincerely held beliefs which contribute morally and ethically to the public good--the Rev. King advocates a fairly unique theological approach which he calls 'unitheism' similar to the Panentheism of Professor Marcus Borg and others. He supports the scientific study of all things to do with religion, including any claims made by it. [If you wish, you may refer people to my site

  • It is not my intention to re-hash the other threads on wholistics and allopathy versus modern medicine. I am all for the use of drugs in some circumstances - and there are good doctors today. I prefer those who are honest and open to things that work - that is all. But when I see governments who withhold facts such as the far superior results achieved by homeopaths in the mid 20th Century London, England flu and chimney smoke epidemics it bothers me. Fortunately Toronto has had people in the Board of Trade at the end of the 19th Century who wrote about "the killing trade" or drug pushers schlepping laudanum and that kind of medicine. There is a great school of Naturopathy north of Toronto and the Television news people have often had doctors from there on TV. Zoltan Rona and Gabe Merkins similarly get a lot of media coverage - and things are looking up for a better administration of fair and just uses of medical knowledge.

The next link tells a little truth about the struggles of Homeopaths from 1880 to 1930 in Britain. It starts with a quote from Conan Doyle (I think) whose spirituality often became an object of ridicule during the Houdini era. But that is another tale often told on TV with little to no understanding. Another man named Clarke (Arthur C.) wrote a story about an alien race helping mankind and doing so without being seen for a long time. The people worshipped the aliens but when they finally exposed the fact that they looked like the mythical Devil - they had to explain something very much like what Doyle says here.

"The charlatan is always the pioneer. From the astrologer came the astronomer, from the alchemist the chemist, from the mesmerist the experimental psychologist. The quack of yesterday is the professor of tomorrow. Even such subtle and elusive things as dreams will in time be reduced to system and order… no longer be the amusement of the mystic, but the foundations of a science." [Doyle, 1922]

This slim volume from Dr. John Henry Clarke [1853-1931] conveys his own admiration for Paracelsus [1493-1541] and Hahnemann [1755-1843]. Dr. Clarke was a complex man, given to many strong views within and outside of medicine. Though originally a protégé of Dr. Richard Hughes [1836-1902], he especially came under the influence of Dr. James Compton Burnett [1840-1901] and two other Cooper Club members, Dr. Thomas Skinner [1825-1906], and Dr. Robert T Cooper [1844-1903].

Because Lindsay King mentioned Milton Erickson who was once a top or the top psychological guru before he spoke openly about the soul and it's importance (Leading to an all out disinfo campaign) I place this link to his life here.

It is easy to see how interconnected good thought becomes when I look at the way I have changed this letter or e-mail discourse with my older brother. Brotherhood would grow if we understood our human evolutionary reality - and that evolution will grow as we understand Brotherhood. This connectedness or Harmony which heals our mind, body and soul - is the root of epigenetics, positive thinking and decrees or TEMPLATES.

Here is an e-mail response to my older brother who made note of the fact that I have been posing these thoughts most of my life and yet no great acclaim has come my way.

There are many ways thought gets transmitted to the brain - and current human evolution theory is moving to the ideas I have been promoting (Others like Teilhard de Chardin - an anthropologist and catholic priest - see Teilhardism) for as long as I can remember. When Sartre said "Love is absent space" I say he understood Brotherhood (Fraternite) best of all - and that Brotherhood of Iesa (translates as Jesus, Heysoos, Iesoos etc) is what all religions need to foster. Teilhard called for a "conspiracy of Love".

I am satisfied with how the mind has started to recover from materialism. Our future is still bleak if we do not use that mind to form the templates ('perfect' though by one person - said Teilhard; imagine if more than one person actually started understanding). See Re-discovering the Mind which I used teaching a lesson in my Masters program Org Behaviour class in 1981.

You have heard about the saying "We are spiritual beings having a brief illusory material experience." That was a very old concept he revived.

Further to the above you might want to consider how often the "illusory" experience is highlighted in our media including the schools.

What kind of crazy is it that supports such ideology when there are far better methods available (see thread We Can Change the World)? When Malcolm Muggeridge said Jesus would be institutionalized today - he was making a good point. That is true whether or not there ever was an actual Jesus person rather than the titles Jesus and Chriost which have been around for a great deal longer than our falsified Empire history supporting our screwed up laws. The people who put words in the mouths of Prophets do so for PROFIT!

From the viewpoint of a modern microbiologist, we hear the call for integration and common sense in sciences that are all too often devising separate stakes and battlements to pontificate from, on high. The 'experts' thus proving their ignorance because the result inevitably is specious ego and puffery. Truth did not divide herself up for prissy 'nerds' to prevail upon, with their massive convolutions and devious attempts to practice buffoonery upon her. And UFOlogy seeks to debunk the greatest scientists this world has produced including Roger Bacon who science says developed the Scientific Method - which he borrowed from far earlier alchemists. You see IF man developed such knowledge long ago - the UFO idiots would not have all the ancient Annunaki and other things like the Vimanas (see thread here) to amuse their childish or hallucinatory minds with. Isaac Newton, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Thompson, Thomas Paine and many more - all alchemists! To be illuminated like Jesus (Yeshua) takes STUDY not BELIEF!

In August of 1980 Psychology Today ran an article by Harold J. Morowitz, professor of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University. I recommend a complete reading of this article for anyone who has suffered through a complete exposure to all that our modern education system is comprised of; as it tries to convince you that everything is 'black and white' and that no soul exists through avoidance of its instruction (except a few artists who defy the norm).

REDISCOVERING THE MIND

Physical scientists are returning to the view that thought - meaning mind - is one of nature's ultimate realities'.

The study of life at all levels, from social to molecular behavior, has in modern times relied on reductionism as the chief explanatory concept. This approach to knowledge tries to comprehend one level of scientific phenomena in terms of concepts at a lower and presumably more fundamental level... Reductionism at the psychological level is exemplified by the viewpoint in Carl Sagan's best selling book THE DRAGONS OF EDEN.

He writes: 'My fundamental premise about the brain is that its workings- what we sometimes call 'mind' - are a consequence of its anatomy and, physiology and nothing more.' As a further demonstration of this trend of thought, we note that Sagan's glossary does not contain the words mind, consciousness, perception, awareness or thought, but rather deals with entries such as synapse, lobotomy, proteins and electrodes?

Werner Heisenberg, one of the founders of the new physics, became deeply involved in the issues of philosophy and humanism. In PHILOSOPHICAL PROBLEMS OF QUANTUM PHYSICS, he wrote of physicists having to renounce thoughts of an objective time-scale common to all observers, and of events in time and space that are independent of our ability to observe them. Heisenberg stressed that the laws of nature no longer dealt with elementary particles, but with our knowledge of these particles - that is, with the 'contents of our minds'. Erwin Schrodinger, the man who formulated the fundamental equation of quantum mechanics, wrote an extraordinary little book in 1958 called MIND AND MATTER. In this series of essays, he moved from the results of the new physics to a rather mystical view of the universe that he identified with the 'perennial philosophy' of Aldous Huxley. Schrodinger was the first of the quantum theoreticians to express sympathy with the UPANISHADS and Eastern philosophical thought. A growing body of literature now embodies this perspective, including two popular works. THE TAO OF PHYSICS by Fritjof Capra, and THE DANCING WU-LI MASTERS by Gary Zukav...

However, the only simple and consistent description physicists were able to assign to a measurement involved an observer's becoming aware of the result. Thus the physical event and the content of the human mind were inseparable. This linkage forced many researchers to seriously consider consciousness as an integral part of the structure of physics. Such interpretations moved science toward the 'idealist' as contracted with the 'realist' conception of philosophy.

The views of a large number of contemporary physical scientists are summed up in the essay 'Remarks on the Mind-Body Question' written by Nobel laureate Eugene Wigner. Wigner begins by pointing out that most physical scientists have returned to the recognition that thought - meaning the mind - is primary. He goes on to state: 'It was not possible to formulate the laws of quantum mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to the consciousness.' And he concludes by noting how remarkable it is that the scientific study of the world led to the content of consciousness as an ultimate reality.'...

The founders of modern atomic theory did not start out to impose a 'mentalist' picture on the world. Rather, they began with the opposite point of view and were forced to the present day position in order to explain experimental results...

The results of this chain of reasoning will probably lend more aid and comfort to Eastern mystics than to neurophysiologists and molecular biologists; nevertheless, the closed loop follows from a straightforward combination of the explanatory processes of recognized experts in the three separate sciences. Since individuals seldom work with more than one of these paradigms, the general problem has received little attention...

We now understand the troublesome features in a forceful commitment to uncritical reductionism as a solution to the problem of mind. We have discussed the weaknesses of that position. In addition to being weak, it is a dangerous view, since the way we respond to our fellow human beings is dependent on the way we conceptualize them in our theoretical formulations. If we envision our fellows solely as animals or machines, we drain our interactions of humanistic richness. If we seek our behavioral norms in the study of animal societies, we ignore those uniquely human features that so much enrich our lives. Radical reductionism offers very little in the area of moral imperatives! Further, it presents the wrong glossary of terms for a humanistic pursuit."

The Minnesota Twins study has been on-going for decades and it has produced some remarkable results that few reports see the impact of in reference to the very nature of 'humanistic richness' and soulful potentialities. Only once is the top researcher allowed to mention ESP. Much as the Harvard study I have reported, the participants are family members but because they were separated at birth and (in this case) twins - there is a greater connection of ESP or psychic abilities than normal. Isn't this just common sense? Who can doubt it, you might say! Yet most people think ESP is some weird attribute or freak of nature rather than a gift we all have 'within', if they think it exists at all.

The majority of people today do not know about Tesla's 'non-force info packets', 'free energy', 'energy from vacuum machines' or what layers of time/space are involved in all psychic phenomena. Thus those who say they believe in ESP are at a loss to explain and they avoid any real involvement with it. The scientists are similarly ignorant of these things and they (after all) are 'experts' like the doctors who deny the mind-body connection with the soul that is vital to psychic utilization. Our present culture DENIED these truly human and fantastic or exquisite depths of being.

The word panarmonic lead me to these places and thoughts. That word was written by Plato in repeating the teaching of Socrates - all alchemists!

I find Isaac Newton seeing Pythagoras understood Newtonian gravity and many other scholars including Copernicus realized they were just reviving old knowledge. This author agrees. Just as important is the issue of numbers relating to harmony, music, Schumann's Resonance and Pythagorean octaves which earlier bards were able to focus in The Lost Chord, and the Harmony of the Spheres.
