The SHTF in Turkey, Greek financial woes, and Arab Spring may all be signs of things to come to the rest of the "developed" world. I fear for the day things reach that point in the U.S., where we care more about Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj feuding than we do about our privacy being torn down right in front of our faces.
In terms of "know your enemy", the folks at the top of the food chain already have already won the battle. It's delusional to think that things like your emails, txts, phone calls, consumer history, internet browsing habits, etc are private and protected. As GI Joe says, "knowing is half the battle".
If EVERYONE is so deep in debt, where'd all the (imaginary) money go? A handful of nouveau riche in China?
Re the Boston Bombing - who knows what really happened? Yes, if you look closely there's some things that are fishy. It's just like 9/11 in the way that if there was something more than meets the eye, there's no way that we'll ever know. I still can't rationalize building 7 collapsing into its footprint at freefall speed, but at the same token it's just as silly to me for someone to point at Dubya Bush and say "he did it!".
The waters are muddied beyond recognition, the culture of spin is blending fact and opinion in an unprecedented way, and the serfs are getting restless. I do lean towards some "new age" type beliefs, but the theory that humanity has reached a critical tipping point in awareness doesn't hold much water IMO. If you want to have a fight between a tank against someone armed with "love and light", I'll put my money on the tank.
My personal opinion is that things are gonna get a lot worse before they get better. This is all just history repeating itself - there's nothing new under the sun minus some gadgets. The only difference this time around is that globalization has made the world at large so interdependent that instead of regional empire collapse we now face the potential of a domino effect full global collapse.
We still may be years, or even decades away from reaching peak SHTF. I just hope that when it comes that I remember to get enough bullets, spam, water, toilet paper, and popcorn to watch the world burn.
