I agree that the men seemed nervous and a bit unpolished but back to the OSI.

Can anyone think of a case since the 1960's were USAF OSI was involved with an investigation?

is it possible the AF stopped investigating UFOs in 1960's?

Here is Robert Hastings being interviewed on "CNN American Morning News" today http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2010/09/29/am.ufo.hastings.cnn.html

There are many news reports about this event as it apparently generated a major news buzz.

I guess Hastings is diehard ETH, but he does mention possible interdimensional?

any thoughts

lets discuss this important stuff.

At least in the interview he says several times that what he is saying is speculation. He would be difficult to take seriously if he said that there was no other possible explanation. The truth is that we don't know what these guys saw, and they don't know either.

Do you agree that some of the speakers were a bit unpolished or skipped around alot?

And Tonight on Dark Matters Radio ...

And Wednesday Sept. 29th ........ A Special Show!

Wednesday September 29 we have a “Special” show planned. If you come here in regards to the show then the odds are excellent you have a UFO interest. And, with that in mind I am sure you are aware of the most recent news (it has been EVERYWHERE!) about the Washington DC Press Event with Robert Hastings and Capt. Bob Salas .. UFO incursions over USAF Nuclear Weapons sites. Both Hastings and Salas were guests on Dark Matters earlier this year.

Well, the press event took place and those news orgs. that didn’t ignore the event were mostly under-whelmed. (And my wife wonders why I LOATHE most of the media!) Well, there is ONE HONEST NEWSMAN that has always reported on the subject with honesty and integrity .. and his name is Billy Cox. He works for the Herald Tribune in Sarasota, Florida and has a webblog called DeVoid: The mainstreams media\'s lonely UFO web log
Mr. Billy Cox

Billy’s most recent posting is well worth your time to read, he examines the Press Club event and once again showcases what is wrong with the “straight press”. Those lame bastards wouldn’t know a real news story if it jumped up and bit them on their ass! Well, Billy is my guest tonight and we will take a close and in-depth look at what has been happening news-wise on the UFO beat!
Thursday TBA Friday Rich Sarradet and I examine the week.
See ya on the radio!

However, Hastings seems pretty convinced it's aliens though.

I think it would have been more effective for him to have stuck to the strict meaning of U.F.O. and not thrown "aliens" in the mix. To say there are "Unidentified Objects interfering with Nuclear Weapons and we should find out what they actually are." is an entirely different thing than saying, paraphrasing now, "Aliens are sending us a message about our nuclear weapons." Could he have said something else that would have undermined his credibility any more than that did?!! That combined with the bogus UN Ambassador story did nothing to help the cause.

Yes Don, I am so glad you're here to remind me. However, Hastings seems pretty convinced it's aliens though.

Angeleo I can't help what you think someone means when they say UFO, however I was simply reminding you and everyone else what UFO actually means.

By the way, this is something that I have railed against for years ... the simple fact that UFO does not mean ET spaceship but something that is unidentified. Sheesh!

:)

That would be a good thing to talk to Hastings and Salas about. Why say they are "beings from another world", which is complete conjecture, rather than calling for an in-depth investigation to determine their origin and true intent? They esstentially are saying that they (Hastings/Salas) know what they are, "beings from another world" and that they know what they want, "to deter us from using nuclear weapons." So what do they want the Air Force or whoever to do then?

I know Don - I couldn't agree with you more. When someone asks me if I believe in UFOs I always say yes. It's when they ask me if it's aliens that I say I don't think so. This doesn't change the fact that I was referring to what Hastings said.

Does my own (1981-1982) military/Ufo experience count???

I don't think UFOs are a belief system. UFO's exist.

Belief in the sourcing of those UFOs...now that's something entirely different.

Personally I was happy to see the event, but this might illuminate lack of coverage. I don't mean to say there's no bias in the media against the subject (of course there is, fnord), but I'm sure this doesn't help:

From Boing Boing:

This following was emailed to me by a "long-time Boing Boing reader and current employee of the National Press Club" who wishes to remain anonymous:

Just wanted to clarify a couple things about this UFO event you posted on:
These guys just rented a room at the Press Club for their own purposes. Anyone can do this, and they frequently do -- everything from press conferences to bar mitzvahs to television shows to elaborate pranks by The Yes Men have been held here in recent months. The UFO guys just attach our name to their event in an effort to give themselves some credibility. The Disclosure Project (for instance) continues to call the event they held here in 2001 a “Press Club Event,” which it was not.

The Club’s position on these things is related to its position on the First Amendment: Basically, that people can come here and say whatever they want, but the Club doesn’t endorse (or condemn) them.

Do with this info what you will... I just work here, and am not a spokesperson or anything, but wanted to at least give you this clarification. I will not discuss the fact that these “revelations” are nothing new... he was on Larry King a few years ago selling the same story.

Selling the same story .... So, this guy is claiming that all these senior and retired Air Force Officers were .... Lying???

And of course this brave spokesman remains anonymous?? I just LOVE guys like this ... assholes.

It was and is a very interesting and perhaps will prove to be an important event. But, I'm extremely skeptical of "aliens" from another planet visiting earth. But, I will keep watching the skies. :-)

Don, I truly wish you still ran a U.F.O. magazine cause I'd buy it. You may have me fooled but you "reek" of honesty and just good old fashioned common sense. :-)

Well Tyder let me give you the bottom line like I told my wife when we first met. "Doll, what you see is what you get." Of course even if I were full of shit I would say that, but it just happens to be the truth.

He completely torpedoed the whole flipping thing.

It made me cringe. I was like , aw damn dude, don't say that! The debunkers' job is three quarters of the way done for them now.

I completely agree with you and Angel on this one.

I did some checking.

Since you didn't give your name the truth level of this statement is completely unverifiable.

I will not discuss the fact that these “revelations” are nothing new...
Fact. This has been around for a long time. You should have stopped here.

he was on Larry King a few years ago selling the same story.
Why did you say this? You said you weren't going to discuss it, then you go on to discuss it. This is a giant pet peeve of mine. I see this sort of thing all the time and it ticks me off. It makes it easy to dismiss everything else you say Mr. Anonymous. I was about to do that but I decided to check.

This comment and even the preceding factual comments seem to go against the Club's policy which you outlined above. No wonder you don't want your real name associated with these comments. You would probably be fired.

It also makes me seriously doubt you actually work for the Club.

It wouldn't take that much internet detective work by management to nail down exactly who you are. If you really do work for the Club I hope you enjoy your unemployment.

Verdict: Mr. Anonymous' statement is utterly worthless and should be ignored.
