Anyone got any thoughts on the 1977 Welsh UFO Triangle and the Berwyn Mountains UFO crash which allegedly took place in north Wales in January 1974.

Here is a link to an article about the Welsh UFO Triangle:

Good case. Freemars. Very interesting.

Oh boy ... now you've opened a can of worms :D

Some thoughts:

(1) I was living in the "Welsh Triangle" at the time. I even saw something strange in the sky during lunch time at my primary school ... and other kids saw whatever it was too (strange lights ... remember them being like an aurora of some sort) ... i don't remember anyone discussing it with anyone else. Must have been sterner stuff in those days :D

(2) Our school bully was freaked out when walking down a country lane, he came across a very tall man in a silver suit (turns out that was probably a hoax) ... but tough guy that he was, that totally freaked him out, and haunted me at least for a few years.

(3) Then theres the case of the ufo which landed (apparently) at Broad Haven Primary school. A large number of kids drew pictures of the same ufo ... and i think it left scorch marks (!!) on the ground where it landed.

This is all from my memory of the time. At least one book came out on what was going on at that time, and I think my parents might even have the same copy (might have to ask them next time if they've still got it) stashed away somewhere.

Anyway, it was all very exciting, scary, and very very influential on the small and very sensitive child i was who was really into space, sci-fi and things like that anyway (i wanted to be an astrophysicist when i was a kid ... not something so mundane as a train-driver).

I even seem to remember there being rumours that there was a UFO base off the Fishguard coast since UFOs were seen either heading into the water or out of it ... can't quite remember now though.

Oh and the only thing about the Berwyn Mountain case I remember from the time was ... oh ... my older brother is called Berwyn ... what a coincidence :D

I also grew up in the Welsh Triangle and had a number of bizarre experiences. Although there were a few hoaxers at work, there were also a lot of unexplained events, too. I personally saw a large orange light with some kind of structure behind it, hovering near some power lines and an electricity pole. I was only 12 at the time. As I looked at it from my bedroom window, it either grew in size or moved nearer - I wasn't sure which. So I did what any self-respecting 12 year old would do. I hid under the bedclothes until daylight! I also saw a bright, silver, bullet-shaped object flying west to east, in broad daylight, on a very clear, sunny day, a few years later. The object was silent, and definitely not a plane - I was used to seeing all sorts of military and civilian aircraft flying over. It travelled along a peculiar, slightly curved trajectory, before vanishing behind a tree-line.

When about did you have your sighting, was this 1977 the year of the flap or some other year?

Has anyone else seen anything strange over Wales?

The first one was January 2nd, 1978. Easy to remember, as January 2nd is my mum's birthday, and I was 12 at the time. The silver bullet thing was about 3 or 4 years later - sorry I can't be more concise, but I simply don't remember the exact date/year. I've also had a recent sighting of a triangle (nine days ago), which I mentioned in the black triangles forum.
