It's an interesting news piece. The out of Africa hypothesis is pretty solid...haplogroups provide good evidence. What we don't know yet is how many populations migrated out of Africa or what interaction they had with other groups. The archaeological record from 40kya and beyond is like an unfinished weave...the pattern's there, but there's still a lot of holes.

Very true. Maybe another homonid species evolved from an Asian Homo Erectus population. The fossil record is very incomplete.
