I'm sad to report on the death of long-time UFO researcher Lucius Farish after a long illness. I knew him years ago, when he ran a UFO news clipping service that allowed many of us to keep tabs on the goings on in the field.

According to one of his many, many friends, Jerry Blackburn, "Since Lou did not have a wife, children or siblings, he left his estate, including 80 acres of land, to a trust to be used to encourage UFO research and education through awards, fellowships and mini-grants over the next several years."

I await further word on how these awards will be managed and, perhaps, how researchers may apply for them.

I first became aware of Lou in the early 90's because of his newsletter. His long-running "UFO Newsclipping Service" was our internet before the 'net existed. He was a true networking pioneer and he will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him. Lou's long-running Eureka Springs/Ozark Conference--held every April-- was (by FAR) my favorite UFO Conference series. I learned more there and made more friends all while haunting the infamous "Lone Star Bar" and hospitality suite. These nights were more fun and educational for me than at any other conference venue. Someone should write a book about the Lone-Star Bar *sigh*... Lou was always a gracious host and he always managed to crave out time for me to make a 20 minute SLV update from 94-98. To-bad they were always at 8 AM on Sunday at the end of a four-day networking bender :)
