Todd Akin opens mouth inserts foot

Free episodes:

I love what karl said about akin's shooting himself in both feet. Nice to know your benefactors have your back. Rove would probably run over his own mother to dissociate himself from this wreck.

From GOP Money Machine Choking Off Support For Rep. Todd Akin | Mother Jones

As I reported in my recent profile of McCaskill, Republicans see the Missouri Senate race as one of their best chances to oust a sitting Democrat.

The GOP's attacks against began McCaskill as early as July 2011 and haven't stopped—until now. But after investing millions of dollars into the race, Akin's gaffe casts a cloud of uncertainty over more spending going forward.

"If he remains the nominee, there's no reason to throw good money after bad by trying to win.this seat," Crossroads co-founder Karl Rove said Tuesday on Fox News. "This is one of those unfortunate things that's so bad, so deplorable,.so out-of-touch that there's no way to recover,in my opinion, from it."

I wonder why Karl Rove, a political operative and head of a Republican-oriented PAC that produces campaign ads for candidates is allowed to be a correspondent for Fox News. That is a huge ethical problem. No other network would tolerate that sort of situation.

I tend to agree but at the same time I think rove and murdoch deserve each other.

I'm hoping Todd Akin will explain to me which part of my anatomy will shut down during a rape. Apparently, failing biology and hating women are the two prerequisites for being a GOP contender.

These should be headlines on The Onion but it's actually the real words and actions by the party that may well be governing us come January:
We should remember that corporations are people, fertilized eggs even before implantation are people but women are undeserving of any rights or equality. Equal work for equal pay is not only unnecessary but encourages frivolous lawsuits. Women should be forced to carry to term their pregnancy even if they are raped or otherwise lack the physical or mental health to do so yet actually helping pregnant women and their children is Big Government and therefore evil. Women who are mentally unable to carry a pregnancy to term and attempt suicide will be prosecuted for murder. Laws have been passed that compare women to livestock. Preventing unwanted pregnancies is every bid as bad as is terminating that pregnancy. The "Planned" in front of Planned Parenthood is therefore very bad and should be defunded. Forcing teenage schoolgirls to undergo regular pregnancy tests isn't even slightly invasive while kicking them out of school if they are pregnant is good policy, apparently because forcing "sinful" girls and their progeny into a life of abject poverty is exactly what Jaysus would do. Critical thinking is bad while allowing students to forego any school assignment that conflicts with their religious beliefs is good. Prayer in school is good. Turning the country into a Christian theocracy is good but Sharia Law is bad because it forces people into following the literal interpretation of a centuries-old book.

Anyway, here's a picture of a cute kitten. Now you can be assured that the world is good place again:

Michelle B. would probably consider that picture an abomination as it advocates interracial canoodling. Lucky for you neither of them are wearing a hijab.

Wait, it gets even better. Apparently asinine comments about rape can be justified if using experiments from Nazi death camps:

A St. Louis Post-Dispatch article details how an assistant University of Missouri medical professor appears to be the source for GOP Senate Candidate Todd Akin's grotesque statements about rape victims stopping impregnation due to trauma:

In supporting his claim about trauma and ovulation, Mecklenburg cited experiments conducted in Nazi death camps.

The Nazis tested this hypothesis "by selecting women who were about to ovulate and sending them to the gas chambers, only to bring them back after their realistic mock-killing, to see what the effect this had on their ovulatory patterns. An extremely high percentage of these women did not ovulate."

Finally, Mecklenburg said it was likely that the rapists — because of "frequent masturbation" — were unlikely to be fertile themselves.

this crap is classic divide and conquer strategy. it has worked for centuries and it is working now. people please do not fall for it. get rid of all career politicians now.

RenaissanceLady, you have once again stabbed the heart of the matter.
If you are not a writer of some sort, the world is losing a great artist! I bow to superior word-smithing.

And....Awwww I just love cute kitties!!!!

Thanks. I make my living (or lack thereof) as a writer. I'm pretty sure this has a level of prestige somewhere between mime and crack whore.

I just wuv cute kitties too. Maybe if I had a whole army of cute kitties I could almost pretend that we aren't living in a world that confuses insanity with critical thought and considers hatred a virtue.

I posted this on another thread, but I think it's just as apropo here:

Hmmm...King of the World. That's an interesting line of thought.
I'd be more of a tyrant with a world wide police force to enforce my decrees. (I haven't figured out how to get around the whole"Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely" problem)
But I would...
1. Enforce equality between genders and races. Everyone would have the same rights.
2. Enforce Religious tolerance as long as a particular religion respects peoples gender, body, and right to disagree. See rule #1.
3. Everyone and every corporation, business, etc would pay a flat 15% tax rate. Everyone/Entity, no exceptions. That would include religious institutions.
4. Education and healthcare would be FREE to everyone. Education up through an Associates Degree in college would be compulsory, with a HEAVY EMPHASIS on critical thinking skills, questioning everything, and science.
5. Space Exploration, Alternative energy development, and anything else that would get humans to the stars and colonizing space would be of TOP PRIORITY.

6. And of course, George Lucas would be FORCED to re-do the last of the Star Wars movies and leave out all the silly non Star Wars crap that was in "The Phantom Menace", etc, and make them REAL Star Wars movies.(Death to JarJar Binks). And ...And.... restore episode 4 to it's original level of special effects and not those cheesey remakes!!!!

Hey! I'm the tyrant King right? It's nice to dream I guess.

I know what you mean.
Based on the novel I wrote back in November for the NanoWrimo challenge, I think I'm way below Crack Pimp down somewhere with zucchini and your basic rock.
My wife says I'm my own worst enemy and critic, but garbage by any other name smells just as putrid!

About 99% of my writing is ghostwriting, so once it's done, I get no credit for it other than whatever fees I've charged to write it. I've done a handful of e-books (all for those in the medical establishment), countless reports and pamphlets as well as quite bit of sales writing. While this can and often does pay the bills, I'm always starting over once the assignment is done and all the non-disclosure agreements mean I can't even use samples of this writing in my portfolio. My last real assignment ended more than a month ago and then I had issues with the paycheck bouncing..... I've turned down 4 offers to do other e-books for less than what a word mill in India would get paid. I know other people will take these assignments and spend months working for a fraction of what they'd make working at McDonald's. This is how we end up in the race to the bottom. It's getting harder and harder to make a living as I keep getting asked to work for less and less. My regular clients are having a hard time financially and aren't hiring, so now I'm starting to move into grant writing. I also have two novels that have essentially been completed but I need to go ahead and do the final rewrites and get them submitted. The truth is I haven't even looked at them in months. I should probably do that but at this moment, I have some other large things on my plate that I need to face before I can really commit to something new.

As many here know I work in a Rape crisis Center. I come in contact whith women who had no choice as to what happened to them. SO tell this to them! Tell the 15 year old girl that I PAID FOR HER ABORTION OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. that her body could have shut it down. Tell the 22 year old woman that was Raped by her own husband. it was a legitimate rape? Right Mr Akin? He makes me SICK! I seen woman screaming in angush over this! more then ONCE I had to stop them from TAKING THIER OWN LIVES! Rape is NOT legitimate! there is NO SUCH THING! Mr Akin should spend an hour where I volenteer Maybe his heart of stone would melt. then again there is no hope for some men.

I hope you are doing whatever you can to help other women vote, including helping them register to vote. Being in a state that recently purged eligible voters (mostly in Democratic areas) from the polls, make sure everyone you know checks to see if she is still registered.

I recently heard that 48% of those who are eligible to vote but who have not registered would vote for Democrats, compared to about 17% who would vote for Republicans. I feel the reason for this is the sheer number of people, especially younger people, who simply feel too disenfranchised to make the effort. This plays right into the Koch Brothers' pockets. They want us to feel disenfranchised and believe that there's no point in voting. Educate the people you know. The only way Obama will win is if there is a STRONG voter turnout.

Family Research Council Stands Behind Rep. Akin : NPR

just finished listening to this story its about connie mackey of the family research council, a pro life pac; still backing todd akin. In it she acknowledged that akin made some dumb and incorrect statements that were "given to him some years ago"

I was actually acquiring some respect for her as several times she said she wouldn't go into the weeds, i.e. commenting on things she was unclear on and then she went into the weeds.

Near the end she mis-attributes(?) a statement to obama about how men shouldn't have the power to legislate issues over women's health. when questioned, she challenged steve inskeep to look into it, he did and she was merely referring to the president's cautionary statement of a bunch of men being in the position of determining women's health issues that he made monday morning when asked to comment on akin's statement. It was a not entirely incorrect allegation she made but certainly deserving of hearing IN CONTEXT to determine the spirit of the statement.

Interestingly I was about to go to FactCheck.org | A Project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center to check on it when they played obama' s sound bite and I saw THIS story on the site
FactCheck.org : Another Abortion Falsehood from Obama’s ‘Truth Team’

the FRC is a right wing tool. I challange MR Akin to come to see or any one that has ANY doubt! there is NO SUBJECT I have stronger views on! Rape is NOT legitmate! the body CAN NOT stop a pregnacy from rape! Like I said tell it to the 15 year old girl that was abused and raped by her OWN FATHER that when she found out she was pregnet by him almost took a gun to herself! out of love for her I PAID out of my own pocket for the abortion. this Girl today still suffers from derpession. CAN NOT ever have an intimate loving relation ship with anyone. I work with her on a daily basis. TELL IT TO HER! I wish I could SLAP Mr Akin and tell him of his ignorance and have him meet her. I said enough!
