Two strange lights

Paranormal Adept
Was outside having a coffee and a smoke looking at the stars when two lights just popped into existence and moved away to the north very fast.

Was very odd I tell you.

Couldn't they just have been hidden by dark clouds before they "popped into existence"? I guess the movement, however fast, could still be of planes, if you could observe it. Only if the velocity becomes the often described zipping or zooming away too fast to watch (or if the manoeuvering seems at impossible angles or strangely erratic) would I think that it's something out of the oridinary.

OK sorry all more details on conditions at the time. We had no cloud it was a clear night at the time so no they did not just appear from behind a cloud. The only bit of cloud up there at the time was a contrail that had been slowly dissipating for around 20 mins or so (boy those things take a long time to vanish now days), this was off to the west and low on the horizon.
The time was approx 11:10pm (yes I posted the post right away) I would say I viewed the objects in question for a little over 60 seconds no longer. The lights were a blueish white and moving to fast to be satellite's (which also do not tend to move in unison), aside from which I am an avid star watcher so I know what a satellite looks like anyway. As for a plane or planes no I do not think so as these lights were not side by side but at an odd angle to be the landing lights, also the red and green running lights (the flashing ones) were not visible. Please don't get me wrong I am not calling "oh my god aliens" just saying after a day of earthquakes here it was an extra bit or odd to cap it all off.

I am happy to answer any more questions but personally I would just add this to the strange light pile of UAP's and be done with it.

Peace

That's why I suggested planes. But if there weren't any clouds... hard to imagine that two planes would switch on their landing headlights (or what these are called) at the same time. I guess you didn't hear any engine rumbling, or else you wouldn't have posted it. Hear anything else maybe?

You never know with those lights in the night sky. I tend to write them off if they don't do anything really inexplicable.

With no decent point of reference it is hard to say how high the lights were but at the height I "think" they were aircraft do not tend to have those lights on. On the sound side of things I work as a sound engineer and no there were no aircraft sounds and in fact the city was near silent which is some thing you notice when it happens.. I will note that the airport was closed due to the 5.8 and 6.0 earthquakes during the day.

Whoa. Where are you at? New Zealand? Hope you are all right. I remember being scared like hell when we had a series of earthquakes here a few months ago, and these were like magnitude 1 or 2, so nothing really bad. It's just that we're not really an earthquake region and the experience was totally new and unexpected.

I guess those lights weren't earthquake lights, I believe these are supposed to bemore like glowing clouds and they don't show up after the quakes but before them. Nonetheless they are one explanation sceptics look for with the harder-to-explain cases.
