Siani said:You know what pisses me off about this incident? I live high on a hill, with a panoramic view over the Bristol Channel, where the alleged pursuit took place. This incident occurred less than 30 miles away, as the crow (or UFO) flies. Had I looked out of my window at that time, I may well have seen something. Grr!

British Police Helicopter Incident
My first "gut" opinion: fire balloon/lantern. (But I don't trust that the video is legit yet, either.)
The video is from a totally different incident. It's FLIR footage recorded by another police force a couple of years ago, near Brighton, on the south-east coast of England.

Yes. But I can't see how a highly experienced police Air Support crew could describe a rectangular lantern as 'flying saucer-shaped' or say it moved so fast they had to take evasive action. Lanterns drift with the wind. They don't shoot upwards, although I guess a helicopter's rotors could draw a light object up quickly. The military base where the sighting happened is now operated by the Defence Support Group. Maybe they were testing a newly repaired/upgraded piece of equipment?

Great, thank you for correcting that. It certainly doesn't jibe at all with the written accounts of the June 8 event!

I think we can safely say that all reports of UFO's in the UK this week are, like phoenix, due to someone lighting chinese lanterns at their wedding.
