Ok this annoys the Fuck out of me and here is why.
As some know I spent many years studying Buddhism and this place they talk about I know very well. It is an amazing place and simply stunning rock carving but it is not Alien at all.
It is not really a temple at all but a monastic retreat (an elaborate one but more or less a monastery). The area it is carved from is not granite as the guy who posted the video thinks but the result of a 70 million year old volcanic larva flow or basalt volcanism known as the Deccan Traps. It is also not the only religious site carved from this rock as there are Hindu site that were built in much the same way.
Add to that that the practice of building monastic retreats in Buddhism went on throughout its history and still thrives to this day I see nothing alien in this.
What I do see is a profound lack of knowledge of the local cultural history and geology..
The geology of the area is not hard to find out about and although the rock is hard it is not that hard to work at all.

Please join in as I think much of the time with videos like this (Thank you history channel) is the omission of the real historical, archeological, and geological facts to spin a good story.
