UFO Flap circa 1974?

Was there a UFO flap around 1974? There seem to be a lot of reports surfacing of sightings, possible crashes and recoveries of craft during this time period.

That's the one that got me into this stuff many years ago. I think the highest profile case was the Pascaguola, LA abduction incident. Very big case at the time.
