Anyone else going to watch this tonight? I'm debating on getting some booze, and making it a drinking game. Every time Bill Birnes says UFO, you gotta drink.

Surely they must interview David or Jeff as the guys who did image work on the only known photo? Or dont they mention that? (the photo)

I've watched most of it, they did zoom in on the cover of the NARCAP report, so you could see my name and Jeff's (woo-hoo!), but no, we were not interviewed for the episode. Big surprise, huh? Bill keeps saying that he's going to have me on the show at some point, but I won't be holding my breath.

I really like that idea you spoke about on this weeks show, with you going down to South America and doing an episode on Canyma(sp?) region, or anywhere really.

That would be great. Although probably not fitting with that shows particular style I guess.

Well, I doubt that I would do a trip to South America for those guys, Bill tends to keep it all very close to his chest, and I'll bet he would never dream of bringing me in for an on-camera thing. That's OK, perhaps I'll figure out a way to do it with someone else. ;)

I was just watching the show, not having come here yet and not looking for it, but when the NARCAP report popped up my eyes just zoomed right in to see 'David Biedny'. I reacted the same way, W00T!

Yeah, the Narcap thing was pretty sweet. I was disappointed that they didn't have ANY photos or any video of the thing.

I wonder just how many UFO's there are, that fly around undetected because they are using the Infrared spectrum to hide themselves?

I would bet, it's a substantial number.

Ally must have better vision than us. Perhaps Bill Birnes' blinks in infra red. That's how Ally can see him blinking.

All kidding aside, it was actually a watchable episode, but it lacked a couple of things that I really wanted to see. I had hoped there would be footage or pictures that David has mentioned.

Oh well, maybe the next time there's a UFO at an airport, some jackass might whip out his camera and get some footage.

I know I'm thinking about getting an Infra red camera. I suspect that these things might actually be floating around in the air.

I only watched that show once a long time ago and Birnes did not have those glasses on and it was very distracting. Ya I have better vision now that was very funny.

Am I the only one who get extremely irritated by the shitty CG UFOs they put in place for the Ohare incident? It doesn't even look like any of the sketches done from eyewitnesses.

The History Channel as well as many other programs on this subject seem to feel the need to make UFOs look sexier by adding a bunch of amateurish detail to the UFOs that never existed just to make them look less like simple metallic disks. I don't understand this type of thinking. It definitely is a symptom of trying to make the UFO subject into something that is more entertainment than real scientific or forensic investigation.

While the rest of the show was decent I couldn't get over the inaccuracy of the CD renderings.

As far as the infrared imaging of the Japanese UFO there is definitely something there that can be pursued. Although I don't think the object was a UFO, more likely a meteor in a far distance breaking up, the fact that it shows up on camera but cannot be seen with the naked eye is a clue to how we may use this technique to see more of what is actually going on in the skies. Even my iPhone can see the infrared emitters from my Tivo when my eyes can't see anything.

I wonder if someone could setup a HD wide spectrum CCD camera to search the skies we could pick up images of disks and cigar shaped UFOs. You could do a simultaneous imaging with a narrow band camera and have a computer only save images where there is a difference between the two. This way you can isolate only the images of the invisible objects.

I think it could be done. If you go to your local Sam's Club or Cosco, you can buy a pretty nice CCD camera set up for less than a grand, 4 cameras, up to 8 cameras, with timelapse server included. It's a pretty swanky set up the one I've seen at my local Sam's.

If I had a grand to throw away on something like that, I would do it, and train it on the skies. Eventually you gotta find something.

These cameras are only standard NTSC resolution and the lenses are of poor quality. I've setup security cameras before so I don't think these off the shelf systems would be that effective to get good images.

I was thinking something more complex like a lossless file formatted full HD camera with a split lens or CCD setup that can capture two images within the same lens and then use sophisticated software to differential the two images and save at 30-60fps video just the portions where there are anomalies. Or maybe the CCD or software can tell what part of the image is in the visible spectrum. Also I would like to have the software control the camera on a tracking base with a decent zoom lens. I'm sure the military already has something like this but I don't think it's available at Sam's Club. I just need Bill Gates and Nikon to help me.

Hmmmm.... I would imagine if you had an array of cameras, that overlapped their viewable area, you could save yourself any tracking issues. The real problem, would be the focusing. I'm giving some thought to an Infra-Red camera, especially where helicopter flyovers are concerned. We get a lot of them here in the city, and they're usually unmarked. They're not lifeflight, or police helicopters. It's very odd.

Anyway, I would wager if you bough an off the shelf HD camcorder with nightvision capability you'd probably make out okay. Some of the cameras I've seen are pretty high end. I guess if you had about 20K, you could set yourself up with some serious hardware.

My problems with this episode are varried. Why does the show feel the need to "investigate" flying a plane through the airspace?
The plane (Cessna 172) has a transponder and is in constant contact with the tower. Jets are fast. The top speed of that little Cesna is less that 158 knots, the cruise speed was probably about 100 knots. At 2000ft the stall speed of a 747 is about 185 knots. So when flying a cessna through that airspace you have to be in contact with the tower so they can slow incomming traffic and create a hole for your little slow plane to come in. I have no idea what this experiment shows. The premise was "lets see what it takes to get into the airspace undetected". Rest assured, if a UFO suddenly transformed itself into a Cessna 172 with a transponder and communicated with the tower, it wasn't getting anywhere near that airport without someone knowing! The whole thing was stupid.

They did a good job showing why a guy in the tower may not have been able to see the object. However, they did a shitty job asking the tower guy about it. Show him the report, ask him to refute the angle of site theory. Instead they came into this totally unprepared, as usual.

At least Billy boy didn't acuse anyone of being an alien-human hybrid. Although, the name of the espisode was "Aliens at the Airport!". Anyone want to bet that he had something to do with that?

I recall hearing Dan Akroyd saying he was going to release a dvd with either a pic, or vid of the Ohare ufo a long time ago. Anyone know what became of this likely BS? He ever release a dvd dealing with it, or no?
